Extech AC Circuit Load Tester

HUGE THANKS!!! Most sincerely! Will devote the funds to an electrician visit, then, instead (had a feeling this one was really a bit over my head…but I had hopes! ;D)

I agree, except this device probably can’t trip a typical 15 A breaker on the 20A setting because the test time is too short. The breaker’s time delay will keep it from tripping.

This makes sense for inspection of new construction. It will give you a quick snapshot, but it can’t test continuously. If you want to test your home for faulty connections, you should test under load for at least a minute. As poor connections heat up they may change resistance. A kill a watt P3 and a space heater would be better for that.

I don’t have experience with this particular tool, but I have an Extech multimeter that I have been using at least weekly for about a year and it’s been perfect so far.

I second this, typical in rush/ starting current for a motor is 6 times the running current. Most breakers take that into account.

Note: I do testing for a utility company
