Good reviews (3.6 out of 5.0) on an extremely similar model over at amazon

By “Famous Maker” you don’t mean “Lenovo” or “Superfish”, do you?

Never even heard of a Android desktop. Sounds terrible.

I was thinking gee, what a complete waste of money, but on second thought, it makes a pretty good Plex client for the kitchen. But Android 4.2, and probably no hope to ever get a more recent OS, so… pass.

The item you linked to even has the same icons under “this item has…” page that the woot listing has as a sticker on the front bottom left of the screen…

I have the Acer version from a couple of years ago. Unfortunately that only has 4.0, but I use it in a guest room. It serves as a tv/internet/ radio. Im able to use any music apps.pandora, spotify, iheart, google and dish network and youtube. I also do use it as a xbmc and plex client. At least at this point there have been very few apps that I can’t load. So for limited uses,I would recommend it. And if this one works like mine you can also use it as a monitor for a pc.

Wow, a $200 digital picture frame, how neat…

There are no HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, or VGA ports - so I doubt it.

I was thinking through the usb, but yeah thats probably right. Mine does have a mini hdmi

This is almost like having a tablet, but without all that nasty portability!

Here’s an in depth 2 star review from Computer Shopper. Even with 2 stars I still think it might be a fun toy. Wish they would disclose who did the refurb.

From what I can see, this is a great deal for people that have specific needs to fill. I personally have a small tablet I keep in my room as a media consumption device and planner/alarm. It’s really slow so I have been wanting a replacement for it. I think this would do great in that role. I’m planning on mounting it on my wall to serve as a terminal and media player.

It isn’t going to blow my home-built desktop computer out of the water, but that isn’t what it is for. All it needs to do is run fast and run several simple applications quickly. Judging by most of the reviews for this product it should do very nicely in those regards.

And at a 200 dollar price point? Hell, my computer monitor cost that much alone!

Here’s the manual link:

It’s a rebadged HP. The design, mouse, keyboard, and the “Touch Smart” (aka TouchSmart) give that away. Nothing usually wrong with these, they just remove the HP branding to make the device cheaper. Sometimes you can even remove the sticker and still find the HP logo on the unit :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it’s an ACER 4.2 Android and will not upgrade! If you could upgrade it it would not be bad all you need is some external storage and your set! but it does not upgrade and you are wasting your money! 4.2 there on 5.0.2 for android! A lot of apps will not run on this!

I’m going to go with HP given the description text.

I think you are confused. With Android 4.2 and a Tegra 4 processor, there are very few apps that won’t run on this.

it’s not an Acer, it’s HP
