$199 for a 512GB refurb? I can get the Western Digital 512GB NVMe M2 SSD for the same price on amazon… WD Black 512GB Performance SSD - PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive – WDS512G1X0
If the photo is to be trusted this retails for closer to 300 bucks. It’s an outgoing version, but has good reviews.
That drive is 25% slower than the Sammy. There isn’t really anything that can match the speeds of the Pro, so they charge a premium.
by what woot says about read/write speed, this must be SAMSUNG 950 PRO M.2 2280 512GB. Probably the fastest SSD out there. Comparison to WD Black SSD can be found here: http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Samsung-960-Pro-NVMe-PCIe-M2-512GB-vs-WD-Black-NVMe-PCIe-M2-512GB/m182182vsm251339
Showing Samsung 126% faster… Nice to have if you are gamer or multi media producer. For typical users, it probably have no impact.
The only faster drive on the market is Samsung’s own 960 Pro. Beyond that you’d have to get into niche and enterprise level SSDs to get anything faster.
The 960 EVO is also faster than this one (3200/1900 compared to this one’s 2500/1500) and is only $234 new on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LYFKJR7. It’s the newer 960 generation, but the EVOs are a bit lower-priced and lower-spec’d than the PROs.
Outrages. I recently bought the Samsung 960 for $200 brand new from newegg via ebay. At the time, ebay also had a 10% ebay bucks so it was actually $180 for 960 500GB brand new
The Evo 960 is available for just a little more on newegg. I don’t think this is a good deal. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820147594
