Just when you thought it hit rock bottom… 37 bucks for 2.5 pounds of salt, a third of a pound of sugar and a few ounces of dried herbs. There are thousands of brine recipes on the interwebs and they literally take minutes to make.
Yeah but these brines are made with magic beans
I think the only thing that’s getting brinded in this deal is my rump.
You got that right and unless you own a restaurant you better like this stuff because it’s going to last a long time at one ounce per pound of meat. 48 pounds worth of brine is a sample?! There is nothing “tenderizing” or “flavor infused” in the ingredients, i.e., a few ordinary spices most people already have in their kitchen.
If you brine an 8-10 lbs pork shoulder it typically takes about 1/2 to 1 cup of sugar (in some form like: reg sugar, brown sugar, honey, molasses, etc…) and 1/2 to 1 cup of salt. Given that 1 cup is about 7-8 ounces, that would make the 15-16 oz of each package just about right to brine 1 shoulder. So, this is an expensive sampler and unless you are brining very small pieces of meat it will not last you long at all.
