Flip SlideHD 16GB Video Camera

Until you pay it off.
Sorry.

I returned 3 of these back to the store - why I even let myself get to 3 is beyond me - I SOO wanted to like it. The 4 hours of video and the simplistic “Here Honey - just push the RED button” was what sucked me in.

The biggest issue I had with all of them was that they would not charge (2) or properly transfer the files (1) to my brand new USB 2.0 Lenovo laptop. Others have compained of data corruption & locking up but I never made it that far.

Good luck

It is a good price, and the Amazon community gives it high ratings.

C’mon, what’s all this talk about the product. When do we start guessing what was going on down with the sewer rats?!?!

Product Schmoduct. I think this was how Jean Valjean got his start in the Les Miserables prequel. Look for it soon, this Woot writer’s gotta have a full script in his lower right desk drawer. I mean, if he/she has a desk drawer.

Initially, I was concerned that Google will evenutually drop H.264 support on youtube, thus rendering this camera obsolete.

However, I kept researching, and found this blog, which seems to clarify that the chrome browser will drop support.

Sorry for the confusion.

Cinéma vérité doesn’t always use zoom.

This will probably sell out.

$249 new on wal-mart.com

A few months ago, I was shopping for a new Flip to replace a 2nd generation Flip UltraHD 8GB which I gave to my brother. It came down to deciding between the Slide and the 3rd G UltraHD 8 GB. The deciding factor was the FPS; the 3rd G UltraHD shot at 60 FPS compared to 30 FPS for the Slide.

The difference in frame rates is noticeable so I’m glad I got the 3rd G UltraHD. That being said, this is a very attractive price for the Slide. If they had this 3 months ago, I would have bought it for sure over the UltraHD. However, I did take the UltraHD to Italy in December and it was perfect for backpacking around the country.

Not really high,3.5 of 5.

will this take video in low light?

I don’t now what people are talking about… this is the greatest thing I have ever gotten as a gift… love the slide because you can actually see the video… holds a charge forever… easy to use for a guy that sucks at technology… video quality it great… unless you are some sort of high tech junky, I think its great… and the touch screen works great, even with gloves on…

Um, forgive me for being a bit out of it, but what’s the point of having a video camera slide? It’s not like you need it in a video camera, after all. Now, iPhone 4 I could see, but in a Flip? And I thought they were supposed to be simple.

Capacitive or resistive?

the best deal for the bucks is the Kodak PlaySport ND at OfficeMax - even good underwater.

My cell phone takes better video. Why would anyone ever buy one of these for any price? It’s just something to carry around that your cell can already do. Makes no sense to me. It’s like carrying a calculator around, pointless.

Resistive

Note also that the display is a transflexive TFT (good in sunlight).

“Ultra low-light sensitivity (>1.4 V/lux-sec) with automatic low light detection”

It works well in some low-light situations, like movie theaters, but generally, you’ll want to have at least lantern-level brightness if you’re someplace dark like a tunnel.
