Is it Nickel or “Brushed Nickel”?

It is brushed nickel (like most kitchen fixtures). I got one of these in woot off, and we really, really like it. The hand sensor works really well. Also, it automatically turns on when you extend the sprayer, and turns off when you retract it. Very convenient.

Any idea how long the batteries last?

Oh Great!
Something else that needs batteries!

Can I use this in the garden or as a hammering device?

C’mon woot, promote the right stuff in the correct category

Manufacturer claims 2 years.

replacing the batteries is a 5 minute job too. Sort of a non-issue

Also it works during a power outage. I put one in my kitchen a few months ago. We are very happy with it. Will install another in our laundry room.

I don’t think so that this faucet falls into the category of either tools or gardening. These sensory automatic faucets open its valve to allow water to flow in response to the presence of a hand or hands in close proximity. So, do you think that you will go and wash your hands in the garden? It’s right place is in the kitchen or the washrooms.

I have a sink with 4 holes, 3 for the faucet and one for a sprayer. Does this come with plates to cover the holes or will it just not work with my sink?

from the description: Single-hole or three-hole installation

The manual shows a mounting plate that will cover the two holes currently on either side of your faucet. That third hole, off to the right or left where your sprayer used to go, well that’s going to be a hole. No plate is offered to fill that hole.

But it does fall under home improvement.

It will work with your sink, but you will need to buy a cover plate or a soap dispenser for the fourth hole.

Description reads, “Pull-down faucet head with smart dock retraction”. What is “smart dock retraction”? Is the faucet head held in place by a magnet?

Amazon describes it as “SmartLatch RETRACTION, Fluid and quiet retraction of the braided black nylon hose automatically docks the spray head back into place.”

Great faucet, but if you are going to buy it, track down the replacement hose NOW so you’ll have it on hand. If the special easy-fit hose was like mine, take my word for it, your local big box hardware stores will not have one in stock when you need one.

I managed to find one on the Mothership that I was able to get using Prime, so I went only a few days without a kitchen faucet.

Mine failed on a Friday night after 4 years of heavy daily use. We pulled it out everyday (sometimes twice a day) to fill the water reservoir on our coffee maker.

I would suggest a soap dispenser. I have 2 at my kitchen sink, one hand soap, another dish soap. No more plastic bottles sitting around. Refill with stuff you buy cheap in large bottles, just need a funnel. I’d never go back to the little bottles.
