Looks like you can and should paint or stain them. Unsure if the “natural” finish is enough. Mothership has them for not much more, but the reviews are pretty good. Overall I’m wondering if this is a good deal. Are they priced well overall considering the possible need for painting and the fact that two chairs is two hours of assembly?
They’re cheap for a reason. Buy at your own discretion. There are good as well as bad reviews on there.
I could not and would not build you that chair for $49.99.
Looks like the chair offered May 17
for $41.99. Parts come in a box with good instructions. Wood is raw and has small knots and need some sanding.Do the following before assembly. I added a little wood filler and sanded, the primed with spray like Kilz. Sand lightly and finish with color of your choice. I use gloss spray cans and do at least two coats.Let it dry between coats. Now when it looks good, put it together. Note: you will find little dimples or dots were the screws are to go in. I drilled these with a 1/8th drill just a little to aid location when doing the fan back. An ice pick or such would work also. Take your time and enjoy.
Looks like a kit chair I purchased from ACE hardware. I have used it for several years …pleased with the purchase, and I would recommend this chair. It’s very comfortable.
Thanks for including the Amazon ratings. I got two things from that (1) too many thought it was cheap and/or hard to assemble (2) this is not the gonga deal I look for at this site. Has sold for cheaper elsewhere.
I bought 4 the last time these were up here. Yes it is a kit and it does take a little while to assemble them. They are good chairs, very comfortable and I have had no problems with them. I was in a hurry so I assembled them before I painted them, that was my mistake, paint them first!.
Have 4 of these. Kind of a pain to put together, but everything lines up fine so more tedious than difficult. I am the guy who painted after they were built but still holding up and looking great after 3 years.
