One of the reviews mentioned that it uses formaldehyde as a bonding agent, and that the formaldehyde can off-gas for years after
The only mention I see in all 82k+ reviews (for all the variations) is this: “My only complaint, and the reason for the 4-star rating, is the formaldehyde compliant sticker they put on it. I went to take it off and it ripped the paint off and left a sticky residue.”
Does the “formaldehyde compliant sticker” mean they use it, or does it mean they don’t use it? Or is there some other place you found a review saying they do use it?
