I’ve got a 1450LMT and have been very happy with it. This one has their newer traffic system. I’m tempted.

I bought the friction mount, which I’ve also been very happy with. It doesn’t fall off my dash (I keep it to my left), but I can just take it down and throw it under the seat when I leave my car (the GPS goes with me) without leaving any tell-tale ring on the windshield.

Not a very good price reconditioned.
Brand New at Walmart for $20 more & no return hassles

This is a pretty decent deal. $79.00 less than the Garmin website and $20.00 less than most of the usual suspects. I am pretty sure that one of the differences between this and the newer generation ones is the new ones will do the split screen when you are on a freeway and show you a close up on the right side of the screen of what you should be looking for up ahead. If you don’t need that and you are looking for that great Garmin quality this will do the trick. The lifetime maps and traffic status is awesome. It will tell you how long the delays are up ahead, and the map updates are now Mac compatible as well. Also if you do make a wrong turn it doesn’t tell you per se you messed up, it just automatically reroutes you. It works as you would expect a Garmin GPS to work - pretty darn good. No complaints here. And no, I do not work for Garmin. I have owned enough GPS units though to know it isn’t worth buying any other brand.

Product wise, this is a great GPS and I was really pleased with how well it worked. Got me through chicago and Washington D.C with ease, which are cities with the most confusing interchanges that I’ve seen. It’s a bit large for use as a handheld, but it’s certainly possible. It has an intuitive UI, so even a monkey can learn to use it rather quickly. No offense to all the monkeys out there. but you do have to admit… you’re a little slow.

This is a bad deal.

First off, factory refurb Garmins normally come wuth a 1 year warrany.

You can buy these and similar models refurbed and new all the time for around $100 , including the 2595LMT which adds BT and voice command. All with 1 year waarranties.

“Too late for Christmas” whcih is good because the price is not a gift. You’ll be able to buy this any time for the same price or less.

Much better deal at Walmart.
Walmart offers the Garmin nüvi 30LM 3.5" Portable GPS Navigation System with Lifetime Map Updates for $64.99 with free shipping. That’s tied with our mention from two weeks ago as the lowest total price we’ve seen for this GPS. (It’s also a current price low for this GPS without lifetime maps by $12.) It features a 3.5" 320x240 LCD, up to four map updates per year for life, microSD card slot, and voice guidance.

Need it by Christmas? Choose Rush shipping for $10.97 and place your order today (December 22) for guaranteed delivery.

Yes, the 2595LMT is available at Frys until 12/24 at the same price with free shipping. http://www.frys.com/product/7570976?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

You should try comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges next time. comparing a 3.5" screen is a little different than a 5" screen. Just sayin…

“Lifetime” is a suspect claim for a product being made obsolete by smart phones.

I could see buying one for a trip overseas where you don’t have cell service. Would be nice to read in the description what countries maps are included with the product.

Still a better deal. New not refurbished and $40 less with full manufacturers warranty and IS available for Christmas delivery.

Thank You !

Anyone know if I’m able to change the setting so the directions are given in Mandarin/Chinese? Thanks

UPDATE: Thanks for spotting our mistake on the warranty.

This is a FACTORY RECONDITIONED unit with a 1-year Garmin warranty.

You can change the language settings for voice and text on it. I bought this model for my wife a while back. I looked at the language setting, there were some that looked like Chinese, but I am unable to distinguish between the various Chinese and Japanese characters. Off hand I’d say yes. I do know if the language of choice is not pre loaded into these units, that you can download it from Garmin.
