Do any of the various Gateway laptops that are being offered by Woot right now run Windows 11? These specs are certainly nothing to write home about, but would be marginably respectable if they offered the protection of the most recent Windows OS.
This device, with its Intel Pentium Silver N5030 Processor and 4GB RAM, is technically capable of running Windows 11, however, one would first need to convert the current Microsoft 10 āSā mode operating system to a regular version of Windows 10 and then upgrade it to the equivalent Windows 11 version via the free upgrade process.
Unfortunately, the potentially soldered, non upgradeable 4GB RAM combined with the N5030 processor and the 128GB eMMC storage limit its performance to basic use like web browsing, streaming, and basic office applications like email and may struggle with more demanding activities. This is definitely an entry-level, budget friendly device designed for those with limited requirements and no desire for future upgradability.
Most of the Gateway laptops currently available here on Woot are similar, with slight differences, in capabilities to this one. Most have been offered here before and past comments are available via the forums search function.
Thanks Kevin. I figured that much, but in looking back at the 11.6 inch 2022 models that are currently being offered, one of them explicitly says it comes with Win 11 and another offering is pretty much identical, but says it comes with Win 10. That pretty much puts them on par with low end Asus models, but at least low end Asus models all seem to run Win 11 and come with M.2 NVME slots.
Even in 2022 why would a company think 64 GB EMMC storage was both adequate and a selling point?
