While this is a good price for these pouches, I find the concept of these tuna pouches on all brands to be a terrible idea. Yes, it is far more convenient a “take with” / “take to work” food item that a can, being less than 3 oz it is just a dieticians idea of one serving. (Technically those 5 to 6 oz cans - depending on brand - are two servings). But my problem is the cans are recyclable (not the tuna company’s fault if people don’t recycle them), some of the better brands DO make 3 oz cans, the pouches allgo in the landfill as there is no way to recycle them, and the worst part to me is the pouches I would think are less expensive to fabricate, yet they cost over twice as much per oz as the cans. I just ordered a 24 can carton of cans of this same brand / style (VOO) from the mother ship for almost exactly these price pouches are here. And I also like that in the can the tuna is not all mashed / mushed up.
I agree 100%. This is my favorite tuna brand (though I prefer the yellowfin over the albacore) but distribution in packets is just a wasteful, expensive “convenience”. And these days the cans all come with pull tabs, so the convenience–other than for portioning–is a facade.
I ordered these the last time they were on Woot. Best tasting tuna yet and I personally like the pouches for packing in my lunch. Recommend.
