Around here we’ve got a lot of Black Widow spiders (one of the most dangerous spider bites in the world) and those stools look like a pretty much ideal habitat for them.
Really they look like a pretty ideal habitat for almost any spider, which may or may not be a big deal depending on your particular squeamishness/the danger of your local fauna.

The are really pretty though. Picked one up on clearance from CostPlus for ~$50. One of the best purchases I ever made.

That was also my first reaction. Those stools are perfect, expensive spider dens. And most (if not all) have a hole right where you would sit. 
That rug really tied the room together.
