I really don’t like refurbished warranties. One would think if a company would want someone to have faith in their refurbished devices, it would offer the original warranty to go with the device.
I know, it’s pretty much standard practice, but especially when you’re dealing with expensive items like the $1,500 plus gaming systems and laptops, it just doesn’t give me good vibes.
I know you can buy a third-party warranty account more expensive.

The Switch 2 is like upgrading to the next version of iPhone and nobody really knows what the difference is other than basic spec boosts.
Lol true. I remember when these were scalped and now they can’t sell them as they’ve been up for a week now in different forms?
Because these are not refurbished by the manufacturer, they are returns, company wipes them off, turns them on, puts them in a white box(because the return was so abused that the box was destroyed) and lists them for $50 dollars off new. Just go on Facebook and buy used you’ll get a better product cheaper. I just took a chance on a “refurbished” espresso machine, came covered in coffee grounds and completely worn out and unusable. I can just imagine what the Switch is “covered in” 
The only difference I can see is that this will allow one to play the upcoming Ocarina of Time reboot. Sigh. I am still on the hunt for a killer deal on the Switch 2 (huge Zelda fan), but this isn’t tempting enough of a discount to lose the 1 year warranty for me.
Why would anyone pay $399 for a used switch when you can buy them all day for $50 more with a real warranty brand new?
I got the previous Mario Kart Bundle last month for lower than this, $395. They would have to discount this to $330 for a comparable deal.
Another meh offering. Amazon has just ruined Woot. 90% of the time it’s JUST collections of junk at trivial discounts; the spirit of one item as a pretty good deal for one day is gone. Whoever at Amazon decided that “hey let’s have like 10 different collections of stuff at 10% off that’s WAY better” is an idiot.
How is this a deal for a non-manufacturer refurb with a shoddy 90 day warranty? Make it $199 and we’ll talk.
I feel the need to mention that the Switch 2 is coming up for a big price increase - on Sept. 1, 2026 it goes from $450 to $500, not including games. Nintendo managed to hold off as long as they could but it was inevitable. At that point, $399 probably won’t be such a bad deal.
I took advantage of the last offering from Woot at $419 which included the new Mario Kart World game ($80 by itself), and glad I did. My console came completely untouched in a factory box with a couple of minor scuffs on the exterior of the box. Everything was still factory fresh and the console worked, connected, registered and runs like the new game it appears to be.
I upgraded from a Switch OLED to Switch 2, the performance increase is significant in terms of loading and speed, you don’t get the choppy performance from some of the later games like TOTK. Also Nintendo is jacking up the price of the Switch 2 for the holidays so grab it now or you’ll be playing roulette like with the PS5 and their insane price jumps.
Usually manufacturers don’t give much of a warranty either.
I’ve been checking eBay first for anything used. Their eBay refurbished laptops are well priced and you get a two year warranty. And a lot of used stuff you can add an Allstate plan right there during checkout.
Tell me more about this $1500 system on sale for $400!
I’m just talking about the gaming systems that they have on sale sometime for thousands of dollars that only come with a 90-day warranty.
So what they are still just 50 dollars more than this right now. You get full warranty no “residue” and no half warn out joycons. This may be a great deal in 6 months, right now it’s a ripoff.
I’m mad that Nintendo went with LCD instead of OLED so they can double dip down the line.
I thought about OLED when I was deciding to purchase my Switch 2 but frankly the new LCD is actually pretty great. It is full HD and supports 120Hz and currently OLED wouldn’t be much of an improvement for what would be (yet another) significant price increase. It is apparent that Nintendo was looking to maintain a price point to undercut competitors such as the Steam Deck, etc., and they held off on indiscriminate increases due to the RAM crisis and the tariffs where others were less willing to take a stand.
I’m for sure not a hardcore gamer, but the Switch 2 was certainly more than enough to get me to part with my money - and that should say enough right there.
Maybe I’m an idiot… But I can’t find a single “gaming console” asurion plan that would cover this device. They seem to start at a price of $400+. There - are - regular electronics plans (which from my understanding/comments/reddit) would NOT cover the accessories/controllers/etc nor accidental damage like a screen crack or drops, and there are also portable electronics which - might - cover drops/accidental damage but not the accessories.
So I might be wrong and just missing something, but IMO if I can’t get the gaming console extended warranty/plan that covers ALL of it, I don’t really see this at that appealing.
