Ok, question about lady bugs…agree they, and others (like praying mantis, etc) r great 4 gardens, etc. Buy the nest ball, put n a tree crevice, let the life cycle happen, great! But how do u keep them from infiltrating ur house? We have 2 vaccuum them up like moths, flies, etc…we do dump the vaccuum n the compost so they get a 2nd chance on life…but lady bugs n our house is a nuisance! Thoughts?

I think you have to use insecticide inside the house. Maybe someone else would know?

Since covid I don’t look at prices. I just order what I want and accept it’ll be at least $20.

Are they real lady bugs or those fake ones? I get those fake ones in the fall. The gov’t dumped them on us to feed the wild turkeys, but they don’t eat them. So now we’re overrun with them every fall.

I’ve heard guineas will eat stink bugs. Maybe get a house chicken?

We did too at breakfast. We sat outside on the dwck at Creekside.

Still learning how to keep it round, but at least it isn’t sticking to the peel.
Love my new turning peel. Fits so much better in the oven.
And I’m still trying to get the timing down so it doesn’t burn. Did have an errant flame from under the coal box.

Nope. Can’t and won’t do self-cleaning for my oven in my apartment.
Landlady did it once (without my permission or telling me when she came for other maintenance one year)
2 bedroom apt w/ no outside venting; just over electric range microwave ‘fan’

It stank up the apt and when we came home from work there was still a couple hours left of it and we couldn’t cook up dinner. We had to open all the windows and go out to eat.
So mad. I was coughing as it bothered my allergies.
I’ll elbow grease clean the oven grate racks and scrub the inside of the oven myself.

Wow! I wish I could keep the ladybugs around. I tried releasing some to my upper deck garden (2nd story apt) but they would fly off. I see a few come/go but most like to stay on the ground level garden.

We’re getting grasshoppers now and the little birds like to eat them I think. Something is chompin on the salvia plant leaves ( no sign of caterpillars; thankful as I don’t want them on the cucumbers)

Also… confirmed today … the dreaded mice/rodent problem is back in the garden section or at least increased. Nothing seems chewed up at the moment yet oddly some Borage plants have fallen over. Would they eat roots?

I made pizza dough from scratch using my sourdough starter on Friday. We used our grill and a baking stone as we don’t have an Ooni.

We tore out a large pink crape Myrtle.
It looks nice for 3 weeks every year, otherwise it’s covered in aphids and other bugs and the leaves turn black with bug-poop.
Spraying it seemed to encourage the bugs and using too toxic of stuff is bad for the bees. Parking on that side of the driveway, my windshield is gooey every morning. blah.
Maybe it’s just too buggy here? I dunno.

If you have aphids. find ladybugs (online or locally) and release where sticky stuff is, usually at the base of a tree. The ladybugs will eat the aphids.

The tree is 14’ tall and it appears ants are chasing away the ladybugs we have here. Lizards are eating the rest… lol
That one tree just gets covered with aphids, even when we tried a systemic insecticide early spring. It’s just not worth the aggravation (or waiting for ladybugs to eat the 42 million aphids). That may work on smaller plants though.

The palm looks better and aphids hate it.

So hubs dealing with a pto hydrolic issue…wont lift (again)…last time he fixed it by adjusting a valve…2day that didnt work…he googled/utubed…he is bak out there trying 2 figure it out…new tractor BTW

That would be the Asian Ladybeetles that eat bugs but then fly all over your house. They are bad, bad, bad…

That’s the main problem with purchasing ladybugs, many will fly away. The secret is to buy a bunch of them & hope for the best.
We always had a lot of ladybugs in WA and there seems to be a lot of them in FL too.

I have been watching sharkfest. It amazes me how much they know, and how much they don’t because they repeat so much information. The CGI is amazing in some of the shows. All in all, it is fascinating.
