I love truffle candy adventures!

Belgium chocolate is delicious yet havenāt had true versions in years. Godiva in the US is a good comparison. Canāt say Iāve had bad confections from any Western European country as they are all tasty.
Dang now I want chocolate or pastries.
Good thing I need to go grocery shopping

My MIL said āwarshā and a few other of hubbyās relatives in WA still do. I donāt like it and had a hard time dealing with it at when I first heard it. I donāt think MIL even knew she did it; granted she acclimated into WA life easily and was dealing with dementia.
Saying some words in a cute modified way can be acceptable. Ex: cinnamomonaonom for cinnamon as my dad would do for laughter when I was a kid.
Other versions of words are often a cultural dialect variation. I do remember in school some overly strict teachers getting upset when kids/students said things in non-standard English. Ex: ast vs ask. Theyād see it as lazy, derogitory or unintelligent than anything else. This was sad. Learning standard grammar and speaking is one thing but to sham a child for cultural variances or English as a 2nd language is wrong.
I worked with speech therapists in college for a while so saw first hand some issues. Later while working in education itās become a hot topic.
In college I recall some professors reminding us about how to give speeches w/out ālike, um, uhsā etc.
It helps show more professional confident speaking.
There are whole studies and departments in linguistics about cultural speaking and grammar.

Kern, instead of CORN, when I am being extra silly.
G_MA, born in 1911, God rest her soul had a ton of 'em. Zinc, shears, warsh⦠Plus the old wives tails. Never rock a chair with no one in it, itās a harbinger of death, likewise, if it does it on itās own. If your ears itch, someone is talking about you. If the broom falls in front of the door, no more company for the day. Juicy fruit in mole holes to killāem. A snakeās body wonāt die until after the sun goes down.
About the grammar⦠Itās like adding like, um and uhs, are fine if you know the content inside and out, it gives the feeling as though you are trying to take a complex concept and explain it plainly. If you watch a really good teacher, that is excited about the subject, they do it plenty, but with good reason. Now, if you do it, because you are stammering for an answer, that is where it is looked down upon.
It CAN work as a buffer, a moment to wipe the slate clean and move on.
Do you find it ironic, in any way that we will celebrate the micro-cultures and their language differences within that culture, even lament their disappearance, and at the same time, demand that people, outside of that group, speak like the rest of us? To determine the difference between a local dialect and lazy/ignorant speech is a tough nut to crack, to be sure.

Agreed. It is a fine balance on conserving oral languages and speaking. The prejudice of languages is interesting considering how multicultural our country is based upon.
And this chick still says ālikeā and um all the time. I do know when pauses are useful in context. You can take the girl outta Cali but not the Cali from the girl.

I moved from a small town to the deep country in the sixth grade, (Indiana) late 80ās and everyone at the new school was all ālikeā, all the time. It was jarring, that word had not crept into the local jargon in the town.
I think prejudice is normal, and it goes away over time. Or I should say, the evidence becomes removed from intent. There are decorative items that no one would ever find offensive until a professor or person with knowledge āeducatedā them on the subject, injecting hate into an object, that was not made with hate in the first place. Itās like having an abusive person in the house that played particular music frequently, then years later, you being trigger by that music. While it is a real thing, how many generations need to be traumatized by a thing that gave you trauma? Is it a social contagion? I have niece that was never harmed by a male, but has the baggage of her mother due to alienating language.
The movie westside story featured the r@cism from the home country being brought with them, then withing a generation, the wounds heal, the hate dissipates or is magnified anew. But once it is extinguished, to bring it back from the dead serves what purpose? For education is one thing⦠But as a rally cry? As a method to monetize clicks? To lift one up over others in a new subjugation against ancient oppressors?
I think too much. I try to understand the nugget at the center of things, to pull back the cloak that things are presented to us, not to dismiss anything off hand. Even the concept of the flat earth has an interesting center, once you pull back all the silliness on the surface.

Cutting out the part about how when a new doctor was given blood results from my father, the doc wanted to see him right away, my father was urged to go on Ozempic because the blood numbers could lead to pre-diabetes.
Because of this, insurance has been covering it.

Iām sending this to a numbered Wooter:
It mostly contains Woot swag.
Aside from my lunchboxes, a few scattered (unused pens), and a 21st birthday tote, this is pretty much all that remains of my Woot swag (aside from the ironically branded clothing):
In this box is: 1 box of each type of light strings, a set of rotating lights (the new kind), a salt/pepper shakers, a MUG Mug, an 8 Ball, a duck, a frisbee, and a bunch of other small items.

Oh man! The tomato plants are hung over and droopy. The cold spell didnāt do them any justice. I havenāt had the heat on in the house, so that may not have helped either. The greenhouses are packed, so need to go now before the weekend where it will just get worse. Poor, poor maters. They did not live their best life.

I hope I get to find out. Iāll let you all know if tomatoes grow.

I was trying to imagine what the dog was thinking while that bird was telling him all the thingsā¦

Yeah, that bird learned that from someone. LOL Could have been a TV show? My FIL, may he rest in peace, had an African Grey named Alex that talked to you in TV quotes.

My gherkin cucumbers did not fair well. Only one of the three plants survived last weekās heat. Thinking of getting more for 2nd try. Also our radish and turnip seeds might be too old and not growing well or at all.
The snap peas are small still though looking great. Hope to get tomatoes started this weekend
Been too slow getting on a good watering schedule for the garden. Plus I need a new adjustable sprayer. Got any recommendations Wooters?

It is a hard year for starting gardens here, too. Our round-two radish seeds have already sprouted. First time it dropped to 22° and they crashed. Round-two tomatoes are here and they need to toughen up from growing in a greenhouse.

I watered the garden with drip hoses on a weekly timer.

The continuing saga of my Woot chocolates.
The chocolates arrived in perfect condition; they were not melted, nor had they been stepped on or even partly run over by the delivery van. And their expiration dates were all in Feb. of 2027. Yay! But I havenāt had any yet. Why? Iām ill.
Maybe in a couple of days or so I will feel like starting in on my eight pounds of chocolate goodies. In the meantime, the Woot gods must be laughing at me.

We used to use drip hoses for a couple years until rodents decided to chew them. Ugh! Annoying. Went through too many hoses annually to want to deal with it again.
I donāt mind the watering as it get me moving. Just gotta get good parts that will seal well to not have spirts and leaks.
Will use silicone sealer on the male/female connecting parts but I think constant use, cold Winter storage and getting beat up makes the nozzles fail every few years.

'Tis indeed sea turtle nesting season. Sign up sheets came out this week. Unfortunately weāre not back in the house yet, but it will happen and I will be able to sign up this year. So pics will be coming, just not this month. Thanks for asking.

The struggle is real.
