green grotto, part IV

Finally got out to see Bohemian Rhapsody. What a FREAKING FANTASTIC MOVIE!

Bohemian Rhapsody was the first 45 I ever bought.

Cool. Sounds like a fun movie.
That band Queen had some good songs.

Went to a movie and out to dinner. Today is husbandā€™s birthday. Going to a casino and having dinner there.

Talked to an old roommate last night. We only call each other on our birthdays and thatā€™s it. Probably stems from when long distance calls cost real money. The calls are getting longer. Last night it was almost six hours.

maybe it is the time for 2 or 3 calls a year.

did you win anything??

and cakeā€¦ did mr poof get a happy birthday cake??

mr mick has to do upper gi today too.

they do the scope thingā€¦
and put in a balloon type thing to stretch out the esphogus cause of the connection stuff and put shots of botox in it. for real.

mtn, can maybe explain it better.

OH!!! BUT THE BESTEST NEWS!!! IS THEY ARE TAKING OUT THAT NASTY GOD FORSAKEN J TUBE!!! WHOO HOO!!! (the j tube is the feeding tube that is inside his intestines)

WARNING!!! SCARY PICTURE!!!

IT IS THISā€¦

THIS PIC IS LIKE 12 DAYS AFTER HIS SURGERY. AND THAT IS JUST THE FRONT, NOT THE SIDE OR THE BACK.

EXCEPT FOR NOW ALL THE STICHES HAVE COME OUT AND WE HAVE HAD TO TAPE THE DAMN THING TO HIS SKIN FOR AT LEAST A MONTH.

THERE IS NOT ONE WORD IN ANY LANGUAGE THAT COULD EXPRESS HOW MUCH HE DETEST THAT THING.

Yep. Vaguely pistachio flavored. And they probably had to add Almond to the name because of complaints that there are NO actual pistachios in there.

Thatā€™s what happened to mine. No warranty. Repair shop couldnā€™t find a motherboard. Too many went out and there were no spares to be had. He said heā€™d keep an eye out for one (sure he will). So I got a new TV. And the old one is sitting until the next electronics recycle drive.

Hope itā€™s going/went well.

That was one of the things I mentioned. Thereā€™s no back light so itā€™s less strenuous on the eyes but it does mean youā€™ll need a ā€œbookā€ light to read in darker spaces. Sorry if that wasnā€™t clear before.

Sounds like heā€™s getting the injections to keep his esophageal tract open. Botox tightens things up so they stay open (or lift wrinkles in the face). Probably different than what Mr. mbspell is having. Iā€™m assuming theyā€™re just doing some more exploratory stuff with him.

Ugh, the worst. So glad itā€™s coming out!

Thanks for the pic. I love that stuff. Looks like they went in laparoscopically and then did a thoracotomy on the right side.

Thereā€™s a new giveaway and everyone needs to see it. The couch. Oh that couch. Iā€™ll never be able to unsee it.

Edit: thereā€™s a gold chair in the corner. My grandma has a set of those exact same chairs. Iā€™m 36 and I know theyā€™re older than me.

If your grandma is like most, she is saving them to bequest to you.

Green Godmother, thank you so much for the birthday wishes and the flower seeds. Theyā€™ll look wonderful this summer.

They can stay with the house. They still look brand new because theyā€™re in the ā€œgoodā€ room, but if you sit in one it takes an army to get you back out.

Watching my kids put together their houses, and how they despise nick nacks and hand-me-downs, has caused me to purge my own shit. I donā€™t want to burden them with it when I kick the bucket.

Plus, it is nice to live in a clutter free home.

Not there yet, but I will get there!

so his scans for the pneumonia showed something strange. so he had an upper GI to check that out. area A was ok, but they worried about area B. we canā€™t remember if he had 2 tests this year or 3. each one cleared one area but found a new issue. the good news is the results were fine and he wonā€™t need another scan for quite a while!!

he had the balloon thing once to stretch his esophagus, too, mick. he was feeling like something was caught in his throat. seemed to help.

That couch AND that chair. Iā€™m almost positive my grandparents had the same couch and pattern in their house. The chair, my aunt and uncle had the same model (or similar) in their living room in red. Talk about a throw back.

when mr. mbspell and I got married and bought our first house, it had a partially finished basement. it was all wood paneling with a built in bar from the 60ā€™s. and a couch they left from the 60ā€™s, too. it was modular and orange. oof. my grandmother loved it, because it was very firm and easy to get up from.

sort of like this, but not as nice
