Half a disaster on day one. 2 hour drive to airport, Flight, and Magic Express go as well as can be expected with 3 kids under 7. Got to Disney resort and they had us in wrong room. Put 5 Wootsons in a room without the pull down extra bed. Luckily an easy fix - switch adjoining rooms with MIL who had extra bed but didn’t need it. On to dinner at T-Rex Cafe.
Got a Minnie Van through Lyft to take us b/c it has 2 child seats. 5yo goes full on nuts when he realizes his 7yo (in 2 weeks) brother is only getting a travel booster instead of the full seat a refuses to get in Minnie Van. He then proceeds to sprint away through parking lot. Luckily mdW is faster and scoops him up and carries him kicking and screaming into Minnie Van. Mind you we’ve only been at Disney for about half an hour at this point. 10 min of Mrs Wootson working her magic later and we are off.
Good meal at T Rex Cafe. Meal took over 2 hours so service wasn’t great but we are just happy to get through it without major incident. Enjoyed the Christmas Tree walk and caught uneventful Minnie Van ride home. (Props to driver Ian).
Get back to room to find only 2/4 bags had been delivered and one of the missing ones had all the kids’ stuff…in its place was a bag that did not belong to us. A call to bell stands and all is fixed 30 min later. Luckily super mom Mrs W (hero of the day) has packed a set of jammers and tooth brushes in the carry on so kids could get ready for bed.
Bed time (11 pm at this point) went predictably poorly, but by 11:30, after several bed arrangement changes, all were sleeping. Thankful to have arrived safely; terrified of what the Wootson clan will be like on short rest tomorrow!
i am all in for loyalty period.
very important quality in a soul.
but loyalty to what is best for your family and you is the MOST important.
omg never saw this gif.
that was like a 20 point turn.
i would quit driving if that was the way i figured out how to get out of that spot!!! bejebbus. lol
Wife and I waited to watch it together after the kids went to bed. She fell asleep in the first 10 minutes. It was close to 9PM and she has been going to sleep earlier and earlier. I stayed up and watched it. Only one episode available right now. They’re doing weekly releases with the newer stuff. No binge watching.
Truth.
Oooo, we had talked about doing Disney this year but that fell through. With the wife working now and us having two incomes the plan is to get caught up on some bills and other things and then start saving for Disney.
SHIT
It’s a full moon so that’s probably not helping.
It has definitely dropped in temperature. Ugh.
Sounds like a whirlwind of a first day. Glad you made it through all the bumps unscathed. I’m fearful of when we take our first trip to visit the big mouse with the clan. My kids will be 8, 5, and 5 if we decide to go next year. My biggest worry will be my son. He can be a bit of a bear if he doesn’t get his way. Great pic of the Star Wars tree!
Added to cart. I don’t remember seeing this shirt but this might have been during my hiatus from shirt.woot.
I’m hoping over the holidays my boss and I can sit down and have a real conversation about it. We have meetings every now and then but it’s generally about something and we’re both so busy it’s hard to sit and talk about this. That and I’m generally non-confrontational and it’s hard for me to have these kinds of conversations.
Happy Wednesday Indeed! You’d think that buck with just ram instead of trying to box but it’s still effective.
Nothing crazy on the schedule for work or family. Just gotta make it through the day and then dance class tonight.
sorry for all the hiccups on day 1. protip: if you complain to front desk about room mix up they might credit you some $$. worked for me last trip. our room was ready late & we never got the text so they gave me a $75 credit.
we’ve been taking our kids since we had them. some of our fondest memories are when they were infants/toddlers. just remember to slow down. I can also tell you lots of meltdown stories, too. lol
