How thin is it? And can you rotate the windshield suction, so it can be horizontal? Instead of sticking it on the dash.

im in the market for something like this. how does it compare to other items on the market?

This is really nice, I might have to break the piggy bank, really big screen.

Wow! OK, before I get too excited… does anyone have experience with this one? It looks fantastic!

good deal. good night. don’t need a map.

never heard of HacVision before

I will stick to garmin…

i just got the newest garmen for a graduation gift a couple days ago…so ill pass

im in for 1!

It’s actually a pretty good price for a big screen like this. Sadly, no GPS compares to a Garmin.

I like how in the description they mention linux hackers, and then say you should install Windows CE on it. Uh guys, linux?

OK, I give. Whom is it?

how does this unit compare to garmin or macmillan?? was this ever actually on the market? does anyone own one of these?

has anyone had any experience with nextar?

Alright, so what’s the story with the real brand and why they had to stop marketing it? Also, any links to hacks?

LOL right in the product section it says:

ah, a Volkswagen Beetle - yeah

SiRF II chipset - very slow compared to SiRF III, but at $249, maybe it’s OK. Just be aware your sync times with satellites may take longer than expected.
Quick web search - complaints about locking up, 10-15 mins to acquire sats, 2-3 mins warm start. For the price, that’s borderline performance. My SiRF III-equipped GPS unit (nearly 3X the price) does 1-3 mins to acquire depending on the state (California was about 90 sec; New Mexico was about 3 mins) , 5-15 sec warm start.
Some comments about high quantity of DOA units and poor service from Nextar. Franklly, I’ve seen similar comments about older Garmin and Magellan GPS units, but at least those companies appear to have better support.

The Nextar screen is MASSIVE - sounds cool if it doesn’t wash out in bright sunlight.

Everyone asking about “HacVision”…read the product description copy. Some valuable info in there today…
