Have you had chicken pox?
Yes
No but my pet chicken once had the people pox.
Finals week, freshmen year of college. True story
Does “Nunyo” count?
“Nunyo biznezz, buddy!
I had Chicken Pox when I was 6, AND Shingles when I was 48 years old.
Am I supposed to remember
I had chickenpox TWICE when I was a kid. Yeah. I’ve always been an overachiever.
I got chicken pox when I was 2, and before I was able to get vaccinated.
I’ve had shingles 3 or 4 times. The virus that keeps on giving… nerve damage.
Somewhere mom has pictures of my pox life. Many times we had to sort pictures and write names on the backs and approximate the dates.
Yes. A long, long, long time ago and I still have a scar on my nose.
More faaaaacinating fun facts. Varicella, AKA chicken pox used to be a rite of passage in the not too distant past. Loving mothers would take their unsuspecting offspring to visit their viral spreading friends. They did this partially to control when their soon to be itchy, coughing fevered little ones contracted it. Until the advent of the chicken pox vaccine, it was more a question of when you got it, not if. A childhood case ususally offered a lifetime of immunity. HOWEVER Shingles are also Varicella. It is only possible to get a case of exquisitely painful shingles if you have had chicke pox, go bare your arms for a vaccine. Adult cases of Chicken pox were miserable an far more incapacitating than catching the disease as a youngster too. Now just so none of you get to feelng too superior to folks who have had (dare I say it?) a case of Herpes, think agan. If you have had chicken pox you’ve had herpes. Varicella is a herpes virus. (Sorry the nurse in me just sorta leaked out onto the forum tonght)
I think so
um… Patient Doctor confidentiality… I swear I think WootBot is an undercover agent for one of the Alphabet Organizations.
worst part was I didn’t get them till I was 29yrs old
Had it at the age of 28. I missed a week of work. My 2-year-old daughter gave it to me. I had always assumed that I had had it as a child, because pretty much everyone did back then. But not me, it seems.
Yep, I was in kindergarten, on a ski trip with my family and told my mom I had an itchy spot on my nose… then it turned into itchy all over. This was a few years before the vaccine was released, so I currently await either getting shingles or getting old enough to get the shingles vaccine.
Shingles vaccine is amazing. My 76 y/o neighbor got shingles but without the pain! He could lie on the couch for a nap, clothing didn’t bother and he still worked out in the yard during the day.
I want that shot!
My advice, get your Shingles shot on a Friday and clear your weekend. I’ve gotten a lot of pokes in the last few years and I’ll tell ya, -nothing- hits like Shingrex does. I’m told it’s still 1000x better than actually getting shingles, and I’m sure it is, but man oh man. (And the 2nd one is no more pleasant than the 1st, lol.)
