Turmeric for infection: I’ve had infected toenails in the past, applied the plant salve and it helped relieve the infection. And the popular honey and lemon in your tea for colds. I tried another one which is flour and vinegar for an upset stomach but it just made it worse.

This gif was me with my father when he brings up a home remedy instead of going to a doctor.

My eyes were blurry and little sideways. I thought i read “put butter on a bum.” Woot, you normally blurs out these ideas and products!?!

Refocus eyes “put butter on a burn”… oh, well that’s not X-rated.

Yet, strange. Who found that one? Someone touched a hot tractor radiator on a repair and the nearest thing was Jebediah’s freshly churned butter.

Yeah some of them work. They’re scientifically proven like turmeric for wounds.

But some are just bogus.

Things I know that work… a used teabag is the best for small burns. And Jagermeister kills a cold.

Hands down that chicken soup (Homemade) hits different and it does make you feel better. Plus chicken has more tryptophan than turkey and you’ll sleep off of a couple bowls of that. It has to have celery and carrots in it for sure or your doing it wrong.

I will also say honey on cuts and burns was an antiseptic that worked for the ancients to stave off infection why shouldn’t we use it for that now? Honey is a powerhouse.

When I was a kid, my grandmother would slather me in butter anytime I’d get a burn. I’m still not sure if she was trying to heal me or cook me :man_shrugging:

Have you not ever wondered who first saw a chicken lay an egg and thought, I want to eat that? Or looked at a cow and said… I’m gonna drink that? I try not to think about things like this…

Worth mentioning: hot toddies
(warmed alcohol, lemon juice, and honey).
Good for most anything that ails you.

Touché. Though, my mind tends to wander to those questions and follow rabbit trails. Even knowing some of those trails get sketchy, and I need a exfil plan and mental Seal Team 6.

Best thing I have found for mosquito bites

My child at age 4 knew to ask for it for topical treatment of an insect bite or mild tummy ache (externally applied). It acts as a counter irritant and predates things like BenGay. For Mosquito bites I have seen a 3 inch oval welt shrink down to imperceptible within 30 min.

Bed rest and fluids.

I once rubbed a wart on a tombstone at midnight under a full moon in a desperate attempt to not have to get it removed by a doctor because it was in an awkward place on my hand. Yes, that actually did work so I’m chalking that up as a win.
