I was just thinking the same thing. Looks like the weak point is a single screw on either side.
Total width is 17.5". This includes the frame bars to the sides of the chair. Total seat will be about 16.5". Be sure to measure your butts before getting this chair.

“These chairs are as advertised! I purchased them for a party we were having that had some guests of size. We were concerned about conventional chairs because they were either too flimsy, or would be difficult to store. These arrived and when I pulled one out, I was skeptical. They look like they would barely hold a child. I unfolded it and gingerly sat down. OK, no issues… I bounced up and down. It held just fine. Finally I had hubby sit in it (6’4" and 300lbs) and I sat on his lap. The chair held fine! The evening of the party came and I let my guests know privately that these were suitable for them. They didn’t believe it either until they sat down in them. They were visibly relieved and immediately asked to buy them from me! I sent them a direct link to the chairs on Amazon and they have since purchased them as well. These chairs really DO hold that kind of weight. They are remarkable comfortable as well considering how small they fold up to be. I was extremely surprised and delighted when we out them away. They take up VERY little space, and will be used a lot over the holiday season and beyond.”
