Is woot a reliable place to purchase real branded purchases like watches or more expensive accessories or gear to be real. I was pretty all for woot but a lot of online reviews and the overall rating of woot is kind of low. A lot of people mention being amazon affiliated but not necessarily promising quality and having issues with returns and warranty . Thanks.
Oh sure. It’s great.
Woot sells things from other vendors, so woot puts a lot of trust in the third party vendors that they will ship the exact item as described on the sale page. Sometimes those third-party vendors are shady or incompetent and don’t send the correct thing. Woot will make it right in those cases.
Just comment on the product thread and contact customer support if you have an issue with something.
Only other thing I’d mention is to look for a warranty on the sale page. Sometimes it’s like a 30 day woot warranty instead of a manufacturer warranty.
Good luck.
oh definitely it’s owned by Amazon. we’re all happily disappointed here
You want honesty?
It’s hit or miss.
Yes, Woot is owned by Amazon. But that means that WHEN something goes sideways, the standard response is (literally) “Oh, Amazon.”
I’m not saying this to scare you off. I buy things here way too often. MOST of the time, it’s a good experience. WHEN I have had issues, I’ve never had any trouble getting a refund. Others mileage seems to vary.
But… then again… isn’t that about par for the course ANY time you buy something online from anywhere. ![]()
Hello. I’m going to say the usual that people that are upset are more likely to post than those that are satisfied.
That said, we do sell quite a bit of Amazon inventory and that comes with some caveats - we don’t have eyes on the inventory, inventory gets mixed up so the wrong thing is sent, multipacks get broken apart, inventory counts are accurate, etc.
Luckily, these things don’t happen as often as people getting a good deal and the correct item. You’ll just hear about the wrong ones more often. ![]()
Customer service is there to help you. Just make sure you give them 24-48h to respond. You can do a self-return for some items. You may see a notice that it can’t be returrned via that method. People get confused and think it can’t be returned but it’s actually just asking you to reach out directly to woot customer service.
I’ve been around here for 20 years and usually everything is delivered as advertised. Plus, since I have Amazon Prime, I get free shipping. If something goes wrong or if I’m not satisfied, Woot has always made it right. Everything I’ve ever bought brand-name has been legit.
My only major gripe with them is the way they ship things seperately. For example: I ordered (4) $1.50 packs of post-it notes and (3) Burts Bees chapstick sets and received every item boxed and shipped seperately. I ended up with 7 cardboard boxes, which is immensely wasteful.
The deals are great, but it all really comes alive when you participate in the forums and special sales. I won a MEGA Box-of-Crap, just for commenting on a post, and got some random crap (as per usual), a Lenovo computer, a Cuisinart “Chicken Frier” cast iron pan worth $160, and some fancy Betsey Johnson shoes worth $100. What I don’t use, I’ll donate or sell for extra Christmas money.
I’ve shopped here for years. You have to do your research on the product and know the online market price range. Don’t get swept up in the moment. If you miss out on a deal, I’ve seen the item appear again later (could be weeks or months).
I must be honest tho that I have had unsatisfactory experiences with customer service and have lost money as a result. Currently, I have a return request that has gone unresponded to since the first week in OCTOBER! Be warned.
I’ll pass this on to staff to look into.
(Please note: I don’t work for Woot, I just volunteer to help out here on the forums.)
Also, Woot will let you cancel an order usually up to 2 hours after you place it. At the rate stuff can sell out, sometimes I’ve felt it was easier for me to buy, then research and cancel, if need be. A good third of my orders are cancelled by me after I place them,
My two cents - Woot! has some great deals; others are just ok. Do your research and know what you’re buying and what other sites are selling it for. Educate yourself about their refurbished and open - box products. Decide for yourself how important a manufacturers warranty is compared to what Woot! may be offering. Buy quickly if you want a particular item - great deals have limited quantities and sell out FAST! Familiarize yourself with the site and when certain deals drop - it takes a while to navigate this since there is no search feature. The products they offer come from Amazon or third party sellers and are legitimate (my opinion). If there is an issue (again- my experience) customer service is great (better than most online retailers) and goes above and beyond to make it right offering a fair solution. But remember to be patient - it is through email only and it may take several days to receive a response. 100% recommend Woot!
Depends if a) all items were placed on one order and b) the inventory was located in the same warehouse. Amazon has hudnreds of warehouses.
Sorry for the problem. Make sure you check junk/spam folders. Also, customer service replies go to the email address on your Woot account, not your Amazon login if different. I’ll ask CS about it on Monday.
Hi there. Checked in with CS and they have responded - asking what your preference was and then with a refund. Note that our emails go to the email address on your Woot account, not your Amazon login if different.
Patience. With Woot, you need to be patient. If it’s shipped from a local Amazon warehouse, it will probs arrive quickly; otherwise be prepared to wait. Numbers wise the deals are good, with identical items on Amazon proper selling for a lot more. Customer service has been good, yea it may take a few days for a resolution, but I have found them to be kind and helpful.
I will say one thing for Woot… I have NEVER had a problem with Woot refunding my money when I wasn’t satisfied. But, for the most part, most of the products that I’ve ordered have been perfectly fine.
