I have one of these models and they are great, but the batteries are awful. They lose charge super quick when not in use and die quickly when in use. Fortunately they charge up right quick!

Is this compatible with batteries from other 18v systems like Ryobi?

This setup is 50 cent cheaper on Amazon.com - and if you have Prime you avoid the $5 shipping. The picture here shows 1 battery in the drill, and 1 additional (total =2). If indeed you get 2 batteries, then this is a great deal - but I doubt it, as a second battery is $40 by itself.

The Specs tab says:

In the box:

(1) Hitachi DS18DVF3M 18V Cordless NiCd Driver Drill

The picture shows 2 batteries, charger, and bits with a plastic case for all. HEY WOOT!!! Make the edits to the Specs if they are wrong. I am not buying this simply because batteries and charger are not listed under the In The Box: section. Sale lost.

My guess would be NO the knob on top of a Ryobi battery looks like it is the wrong shape and size to slide up into this Hitachi drill. BUT FYI Ryobi makes the Sears Craftsman cordless drills and the shaft is the same size and shape BUT they just moved it’s location on the battery so that it doesn’t lock in place but I found I can make the Ryobi 18-Volt Lithium-Ion battery work im my Craftsman 16.5 volt cordless drill but pushing it all the way in and then taking one of those rubber band bracelets and slipping it over the front of the battery to hold it in place. The battery protrudes past the front edge of the drill housing but not big deal…a lot cheaper then buying over priced Craftsman batteries.

As for this deal…I love everything I have made by Hitachi but agree with other comment that NiCd batteries are a waste of time so for that reason alone I would pass on this deal…sorry WOOT.

+1 on the batteries. Very low quality. It doesn’t take long for them to become paperweights.

Per the vendor: Sorry, no.

I’m with you here. Probably pull trigger if it was clear everything in picture is included
