Poor Scully. Apparently the only woman to break through the glass cartoon shirt ceiling. This shirt doesn’t have enough females on it to even attempt to pass the Bechdel Test. Here, then, is a list of twenty-five (and counting) additional “Homies” that we can all dream of seeing on another shirt:
Thelma & Louise
Elizabeth Cady Stanton & Susan B. Anthony
Xena & Gabrielle
Romy & Michele
Dr. Francine “Penny” Patterson & Koko
Tina Fey & Amy Poehler
Laverne & Shirley
Daria & Jane
Lucy & Ethel
Wilma & Betty
Cagney & Lacey
Kate & Allie
Ripley & Newt
Lorelai & Rory Gilmore
Patsy & Edina (from AbFab)
Pauline & Juliet (from Heavenly Creatures)
Violet & Corky (from Bound)
Enid & Rebecca (from Ghost World)
Mary Richards & Rhoda Morgenstern
Rachel & Monica
Patty & Selma
Inara & Kaylee
Sarah Connor & Cameron Phillips
The Indigo Girls (hell, if you’re really putting Daft Punk on this one)
Tia & Tamera (hell, if you’re really putting that Pete & Pete on this one)
It’s funny, I think that’s right (and as someone who grew up watching Almost Live, it’s funny that I recognized Tyson before Nye, especially since I was living abroad when Tyson became more famous . . . I still love you Nye! And for people wanting more awesome scientists, Brian Cox is great too!)
But my first reaction was Tyson and Carl Sagan, cause they’re Cosmos dudes. Billions and Billions . . .
I know they wouldn’t be popular enough to make the cut, but I think it would have been fun to have Shawn Spencer and Burton Guster from Psych on there. They definitely pop into my head when I think “homies”
This could definitely become a series. LOTS more homies to fill shirts with…
Sidenote: For any Office and Parks and Rec fans, keep an eye out this fall for a new show called Superstore. A friend of mine worked on the pilot and it was picked up by NBC. He really thinks it may be the next Office or Parks and Rec.
