HP 14.1" Dual-Core EliteBook

These were our corporate standard a few years ago, and NO ONE in the office liked them. Hard drive failures were commonplace, and the build quality lacked - lids that wouldnt close well, etc. Also for me at least it was pig slow. I upgraded to the 8460p about 18 months later and it was a big step forward, but still paled in comparison in quality to the Lenovo T430 I use today.

I can’t speak to this specific model, but I have an HP 15" from this line and vintage and it has one 4GB chip and an empty slot. Of course who knows what they did when they refurbished it?

I guess it depends on what kind of a workout you plan on putting you laptop through. I have owned my share of laptops and generally I’m pretty easy on them- I think most people that own their own laptop are pretty easy on them. If you are using one supplied from work it’s a different matter because it’s not yours. Depending on the environment I think the slim new I3 is the way to go then a 1st gen I5, The newer I3 are almost as powerful and have half the Max TDP- they also have better video processor. Plus it’s the same argument I gave before- no USB 3.0, slower HD, and battery with more miles on it. Let’s say that your old I5 is a tank, and despite it’s age gives another 3 years of use, the newer laptop despite it being “plasticky” is going to give you at least the same lifespan, with better components at the same price. Once again I respectfully agree to disagree.

May I point out that the review that plays “Close To You” is nothing but tech porn. Plain and simple.

Need to get shit done? This is the laptop for you. I’m very tempted.

As a general rule, ONLY buy business class laptops. Anything consumer grade is crap, with few exceptions. HP consumer laptops are awful. Their business oriented laptops, such as this, are awesome.

Anyone who bought this should check their system. I just received mine today. Instead of discreet radeon graphics the unit I received has crappy intel integrated graphics. I’m not sure if this is an honest mistake or a sharp practice. Unless you know what to look for this is the kind of discrepancy that many buyers will never catch on to. I am not happy.

Sorry for the problems. I’m assuming you checked in the Device Manager to see if it was just disabled?

It’s definitely an oversight if it slipped through. Please email support@woot.com for assistance. Include your Woot username and order number for faster service.

No AMD graphics, no DVD+/-RW, No camera on the one I received. Something is amiss here!

Sure. Woot support offered a $30 credit or and RMA after I’ve spent several hours getting the machine updated with all the windows updates. Heck, the DVD+/- alone is $30 used on EBAY. This is really poor on WOOT’s part.

Got mine. Specs of the machine I got don’t match the specs noted on Woot’s page. Very very very disappointed, guys. What can a guy do with a DVD-ROM drive these days!? Would love to get a SuperMulti w/ LigthScribe (you know, like how you advertised this).
