Got a similar one from Woot not long ago. I put Linux Mint on it and is runs really well. It is possible to dual boot them if you really need Windows.
I didn’t know what S Mode was. Now I do.

I’m sorry about that. You have an HP warranty. You might register your laptop with them and then contact them to see if they can troubleshoot it for you.

I had the same issue. HP talked me through it. You basically have to find your windows number and resubmit it. I assumed they would do that automatically, but it worked after I manually input the number.
