Does it come with the arm with a bad erase job?

Check out these comments from when this was sold in October

Feeling the woot love. Purchased this a week ago (from woot)for $679, guess there is no hope for a price drop match for my order.

Laptop meets or exceeds my expectations. Its an even better deal now with a 40 dollar price drop.

If you have issues getting windows update to work, forego wifi and hard wire to ethernet. Get 8.1 ASAP. Makes the machine run much smoother.

  1. Is there a dock for this Laptop ?

  2. When maxing memory to 16GB, do you need to throw away the 8GB first ? Or can you just buy 8GB and add it ?

If there is an empty slot, you should just be able to add another 8 gig stick without discarding the other.

If I have to throw away 8 gigs I might be because it FILLS the slots. i.e. 2x 4Gig vs. 1x 8Gig

One is a waste other is a benefit. Any prior buyers care to confirm what was in memory of theirs ?

Does anyone know what version of HDMI this has? V1.3 allows 2500x1600 output, 1.4 and above for the full 4K video. I would like to use it with a high def monitor at home.

Dock: Most likely there’s not a dedicated dock for this laptop. Those are usually reserved for business grade computers. You could probably purchase a generic dock that you could connect via USB to get a few extra connectors.

Memory: According to this HP page,

Memory 8GB DDR3 SDRAM (2 DIMM)
Memory Max Maximum supported = 16GB
Memory Slots 2 user accessible

Your mileage may vary.

Anyone know the difference between this M7-J010DX and the M7-J020DX that came up about a month ago? Besides today’s having a “1” and last month’s has a “2” in the model number, I’m having a hard time seeing much difference.

Looking at the specs they look identical, except today’s J010DX is listed with a bigger battery AND a lower price. Which makes it better in my book. Am I missing something?

It boils down to the display and, to a smaller extent, battery capacity.

The -020 has the very nice “17.3-inch diagonal Full HD Anti-glare LED-backlit touchscreen display (1920 x 1080)”, this one has the “17.3-inch diagonal HD+ BrightView LED-backlit display (1600 x 900)”, “BrightView” means not anti-glare. Having just wooted the -020 I can say that the 1920 x 1080 anti-glare screen is very very nice.

The -020 has a lower-capacity battery (47 W-Hr vs. 62 W-Hr), so the -010 can be expected to run longer on its battery.

Sweet, I appreciate you pointing those out. One thing though, the specs on woot show that the currently offered laptop is full 1920 x 1080 HD, not 1600 x 900. I really hope it’s the HD as listed…

Woot (@ThunderThighs), can you confirm which resolution is correct, and if it is indeed a glossy screen vs the anti-glare (I assume that is code for “matte” styled) one?

Thanks everyone! =)

It’s 1080, just like the previous times we’ve sold this laptop.

Now go buy! Please?

We’re researching the difference between the x10 & x20. We’re thinking the anti-glare vs glarey is correct though.

No. The dockable HP notebooks are the ProBooks and EliteBooks. Of course, USB port replicators from Belkin and others are always an option in lieu of a custom docking station.

If that’s true then the product description and specs need to be fixed. My data came from the HP web site based on the model numbers. And, of course, I KNOW what the -020JX has (it’s sitting on my desk, right here in front of me).

HP has been wrong on their site before.

The other retailers we are checking show it as 1080. We’ve sold it before as 1080 and received no complaints back.

We are checking though.

Thanks @ThunderThighs for looking into this. <3

I had one more question. The M7-J020DX (the other laptop) had a second hard drive bay. Does this M7-J010DX have that same 2nd bay?

Thanks!

That is Thing and he highly recommends this laptop.
