Refurbed touchscreen makes me nervous - don’t they have a limited amount of fairy dust in them before they stop working?

700 on Best buy and 651 open box. If we needed it, I would take the chance at this price.

I bought the non-touch version for $339 last week on Woot. It came in an HP factory box labeled “Refurbished” but it appears that it was brand new, with all of the protective plastic in place, no marks or fingerprints. Thus far, I’m very happy with the deal and the purchase.

You mean like the touchscreens used millions of times on ATM machines?

I have bought HP refurbs before and cannot tell them from new either. With Windows 8, a touch screen opens up all the Apps that are touch, and still has a keyboard for the desktop functions. I bought a refurb Dell from here and had issues with some things that were taken care of on the warranty but the touch screens on my three tablets and main desktop Dell, and my smart phones have given no indication that a touchscreen will fail faster, or at all, than the other components. I am looking at this as a second desktop for my wife who has a regular old Windows 7 non touch desktop and 23" monitor. She has a Windows 8.1 touch tablet so has no issues with touch or Windows 8/8.1.

I was going to tell you to upgrade to 8.1 immediately on receipt because then if there are driver issues you can get them resolved but in checking it already has 8.1 on it. Just do all of the Windows updates first before using it then you should be good to go. (There is a large Update to 8.1 that needs to be installed, in addition to the other regular Windows updates. They may have done that one too!)

The pics imply that the keyboard and mouse are wireless. Is this true?
