G1 when they’re currently selling G3. So this is a 3 year old refurbished laptop, but a new G3 is at least $1000 more than this. It might still be a good buy.

Seems like a decent deal to me and gets good reviews on the mothership. If I wasn’t already happy with the HP Elitebook i5 refurb I got here a year ago, I would be all over this i7 SSD for $399.

Comparing with the $399 pc on Sellout.Woot yesterday. This is what a $400 computer should be. This particular i7 will perform more like an i5 but will benefit from a lower watt draw and thus longer battery life. Also, Touchscreen and higher resolution screen are big improvement (would love 1080p, but given screen size not a deal breaker). Look and feel of this laptop will also be pretty good for the price range.

No HDMI, FYI.

Has DisplayPort which you can use with an HDMI adapter.

I have one of these for work, and am on my second one. They are great in that they are lightweight, can have 16 GB of RAM and do pretty well at virtualization. The bad thing is that the ones that my company received failed at a much higher rate than other HP’s, and that continued with the warranty replacements. While I was excited to get this laptop initially, I don’t think I would purchase one for myself.

I could add that I have run one for years with two 1080p monitors in addition to the laptop screen: display port connector and usb video card. It’s great portable workstation.

Mine arrived today with the battery totally dead. When Windows finally loaded (after over an hour of updates) it says battery not present. The charger is 65W big and bulky. The specification said 45W. There are overlaying stickers on the palm rest area and touch pad that are grossly misaligned. This is not what I expected from Woot. Can I request a replacement? Judging from the quality of this shipment I think I want to just return for a refund.

:frowning:

Write into Customer Support and they’ll help you out on this.

Sounds similar to the one I received last week and didn’t get to look any until today (vacation…). Stickers are misaligned and ugly. Has some dent and scratches. Worst part is many of the keys don’t work. Wrote to woot who offered a refund or to have http://www.metropc-wholesale.com/support/ repair it. Think I will request a refund. Seemed like such a good deal…
