HP EliteBook 840-G1 Intel i7 512GB Laptop w/Dock

This is a good deal, and I’d be all over it if it were a 15.6" screen. These old eyes need all the help they can get.

If you’ve never used a full docking station, they are awesome! Plug your keyboard, monitor, network, etc., in once, and then just pop the notebook in and out of the dock, no muss, no fuss, no cables or wires slipped behind the desk. Plus, you can drive a big external monitor when you’re at your desk.

fyi the dock pictured is not the right dock for this laptop. THe dock is a Side dock for this model. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/mpc/oas/product-detail.html?oid=5422417

I was going to say the same thing. Elitebook 800/1000 series all use the HP “2013” Dock. The dock shown is for an Elitebook 8000 series (pre-2013) such as the Elitebook 8460/8470 or 8560/8570…

Thanks! I sent an email to the team.

Seems like a good deal; however, I don’t see an HDMI port listed. Does it have one? Thanks!

No HDMI…which means…ya don’t get to use a 1080p external monitor,… as they all have HDMI or Display port these days !
2nd, this is an old machine…Translation…it’s slow,…even with the SSD. There are better deals out there for the $$$ !!

The 840 has DisplayPort, and cheap adapters can be found if HDMI is required.

I use a similar EliteBook for work. Dock at the office has two external monitors, but at home I have no dock and have three external monitors: VGA, Display port to VGA, and an AOC USB connected monitor.

Everything works well and it’s a great setup.

There is no way that any I7 with 8gb ram and an ssd is going to be slow for anything 90% of people do 95% of the time.
If you know of a better deal please share one…really just one, but more would be better.
Thanks

I agree with the other posters that this is priced a little too high. I assume the bean counters will yell at woot if they price it too competitively and these fly off the shelves.

On the mother ship, the Asus vivobook (consumer grade so you don’t get the easy upgrades, the docks, the reliability yada yada of business class) is $500 on a slightly larger than 14" chassis.

I haven’t bought it yet. I’d prefer to buy this HP but the pricing isn’t quite right.

Benchmark makes you wonder why this is an "Elite"Book.

go to page 13 on this document for more info on the dock, if this is the right one.
