Check out this “excellent” review over at PCmag.com
Got this last time on Woot. Lots of problem with USB ports. Does not recognize Lytro camer! The reason I got it. Cannot connect to projector without constant back and forth message that screen resolution not optimal for the projector then for the laptop. Still haven’t solve the problem. Not the powerful laptop I had hoped. Guess it is worth what you pay for it.
I bought one of these in June. Unfortunately it was a piece of junk. From the start the display jumped and jerked as though there was some kind of interference. Then suddenly the screen would digitize as though the machine was being given an electric shock. Wondering if it was something in my home or network I took the laptop 12 miles away to the B&N and used their wireless network. Same problems. I did a bit of research and the problem was either the display or the motherboard either one a very expensive repair. I think that the “term” refurbished means that they dusted it off and sent it on to be resold to some unsuspecting person. If anyone had actually turned on the laptop for 10 minutes in the course of “refurbishment” they would have seen the problem. this is the second laptop I bought from Woot that had major problems.
I bought one of these machines the last time they were on woot. I like it a lot. It arrived in excellent shape. It’s lightweight and boots up super fast. But mine also has issues w/the video display as described above. Fortunately, these came with a one year warranty which is way more than the usual 90 day warranty on refurbs. So I’m going to take advantage of that. It will also add that the brushed finish of the back/top side of the lid will scratch when rubbed against anything hard. One other drawback in my case that I didn’t consider in advance is it doesn’t have keyboard backlighting. I’m gotten spoiled by that feature on my Lenovo Thinkpad so I wish this machine had it.
A coworker of mine bought two of these last time after I pointed it out to her.
She got two good working units and hasn’t complained about any issues. She sold them to her friends, who needed laptops I think.
Outside reviews say hd webcam, yes or no?
Anyone know if there’s an option to purchase an extended warranty?

Guys, though I’ve never purchased from this particular seller, I purchase and support these for a living, and love them. This display issue is a known issue with the graphic power saving features. I’ll paste this I got from somewhere else: This is feature I have found on HP machines that comes from an Intel auto power saving technique.
All you have to do is go to Graphic Properties > Advanced Mode click ok then in Intel@Graphic and Media Control Panel click on Power then in the power source (top right) drop down box change power Source from Plugged in to On battery and disable display Refresh Rate Switching then apply and ok. In order to go to graphic properties press right touch pad button on the desktop then from that menu choose Graphic Properties.
Before I deploy these computers I make sure to do this.
The battery that was shipped with mine was dead and will not charge.
I’m really sorry about that- if you email into us using the support tab above, you should be able to return for a refund. If you prefer a replacement, check in with Metro PC, you can reach them here.
