Time to learn all about the processor

CPU Benchmark

Bought this back in April or May. Shortly before the warranty expired (3 days), the hard drive failed. HP replaced it. However, could not reinstall windows. Had to send the whole thing back. It was returned with windows installed but I couldn’t update anything. (You have to update the driver for the wireless adapter or it will keep dropping the wireless connection) I had to reset bios to default and restore windows before it would update. I wouldn’t buy again without buying an extended warranty.

It only had a 3 day warranty?
Was it refurbished or new?
Overall, do you think its a good buy now that you’re past the initial problems you were having or do you still feel like WOOT gotcha?

Two things concern me about this buy.

Does anyone think the power unit is too small to multitask or to run a full 1080? The battery seems a bit underwhelming also.

Any opinions?

Woot ups the Ante by $10 from last August’s offering of same laptop.

I love this laptop, I’ve had it since July. You have to add an SSD to really enjoy it though. It’s mainly a laptop that I’d use for a desktop replacement as it’s not very portable. It’s very fast though and the 1080p screen is just gorgeous.

Intel HD graphics.

No thank-you.

True, but it won’t broil itself to death in 2-3 years.

It’ll be perfectly fine unless you plan on playing games. This isn’t a gaming laptop.

Any way to find out how many RAM slots are being used?

Sorry for late reply, according to HP product page:
Memory Slots 2 user accessible

URL: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c04094897&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en

I believe that the question related to how many memory slots were available for use. The fact is that both slot are used accommodating two 4gb sodimms as shipped.

According to the site page posted:

8GB DDR3L SDRAM (2 DIMM)
Memory Max Maximum supported = 16GB
Memory Slots 2 user accessible

I would be more tempted to jump on this tech from last year if Woot!'s pricing was more competitive. This current offering asks me to spend more for the same item that has been sold for less here at Woot! earlier in the year. Shouldn’t pricing go lower to be competitive and since the inventory ages? It’s not art or fine wine.

I’ve found at least two large competitors selling this same manufacturer refurb item for the same or a bit lower Out the Door price.

Come on Woot! What happened to your great deals? I’d rather root for Woot!.
