Servicing Guide

For those who aren’t familiar with AMD’s processors (which would be most people), AMD A10-6700 is roughly the equivalent of a third generation Intel Core-i3.

It’s slightly better than Core-i3 at gaming without discrete graphics (Radeon 8670D is an integrated GPU), but it suffers a bit in productivity.

At this price, this is a good deal. Most Core i3 setups at this price come with 4GB of RAM and 500GB of HDD, and no wifi capabilities.

Thank you, clanecks. I was ready to jump on this after missing the last go-round, but then I noticed that it’s not the i5 version. Decisions, decisions.

Here’s some comparison info for this cpu and the i5.

Great post. Thanks!!! Is there an AMD equivalent to the I5 or I7?

According to this site, the AMD FX9590 is the most powerful multi-core AMD chip currently on the market, and is approximately equal to an Intel I7-4770K, which is a pretty powerful CPU.

Good price, too.

This is actually not a bad deal for an envy 700. See this product page for a similar 700 series computer with an i5 processor. Someone has already pointed out that the AMD processor in this one is equivalent to a an i3 processor (predecessor to i5).

Staring price for the system I gave a link to is $649 at HP.

Some specs for posted link: Windows 8.1 64
4th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-4440 processor quad-core[3.1GHz, 6MB Shared Cache]
12GB DDR3-1600MHz [2 DIMMs]

Based on the fact I recently just purchased an HP envy I can tell you the 2TB hard drive, wireless, keyboard and mouse are upgrades which cost more money.

This is a decent system for those looking at a computer for general purposes.
