I use a core i7 6700HQ at work and it is an extremely powerful processor with great efficiency…doesn’t get too hot and power consumption is ok.
What makes me nervous is the hybrid drive though. Backup backup backup! Some folks rave about them, but if you really want the speed go SSD with a 1TB as secondary instead. Aside from that a great work/gaming machine.
Pros
+DDR4 memory
+i7 6700hq
+Win10
+Red lighting
Cons
-Hybrid drive
-Reconditioned
Ports/Jacks
2 USB 3.0; 1 USB 2.0; 1 HDMI; 1 RJ-45; 1 headphone/microphone combo
I find the # of ports to be enough for my use, but I recommend this port replicator so you can undock everything easily/get more ports.
Interesting, I just bought this (for the same price at $899…it is on sale all the time) which has a lesser processor, more ram, and a lessor video card. Same weight and also has a DVD burner (although the picture on Woot today does not seem to show one…not sure why).
But I am curious, I was told NOT to buy a hybrid drive so I got a solid state 512 GB, but this one does not state the size of the standard drive (just states 1TB hybrid). Is it all solid state or is part of it a spinning drive? What am I missing?
But this does seem to be an interesting deal today.
Edit: Looks like it is mostly just a spinning drive. I found this on another site:
“Incorporates a medium-capacity 1TB hard drive at 5400 rpm for serviceable storage, with 8GB of NAND Flash memory to speed up start times and accelerate frequently accessed data.”
