The reviews linked on the testfreaks site are all over the place and reflect different iterations of HP Pavilion 17" laptop sold by different vendors. The reviews listed either refer to a core i3 processor, 8 GB or 6 GB ram. Looks like the site uses a bot to scrape retail sites for reviews & therefore may not be a reliable source for information on this particular lappy.

And the Service Guide

Reviews on the “mothership” are 7 for, 3 against basically, but only 10 comments so far. It’s $110 more there.

This place liked it as a decent desktop laptop: compuercritique.com

The A8 4500M is a solid performer, though it’s a couple years old now.

Other than that, the specs look pretty average all the way through. For the money it’s a good enough deal, if you’re looking for a basic desktop replacement that can handle some mild gaming (Minecraft, games from 3-4 years ago).

What can I say, it’s hard to get excited about a laptop that screams “middle of the road.”

OTOH, it’s not too hard to get excited about a laptop that screams “affordable.”

Amen. I need a laptop that can run Word so that I can write while on the road. While I love my ChromeBook, it’s not good for that. My budget was $400. This is perfect.

I’m fascinated by this technology resurrected by AMD in these new processors. “Clustered Integer Core,” called a “module” by AMD, is technically not quad-core but not exactly dual-core, either.
