Pavilion 17-F004DX Hardware Maintenance Guide

[MOD EDIT: Removed Guide link;broken]

Couldn’t figure it out ? Did you ask for help ?

Anyone know if this has a slot for a 2nd hard drive? Or if by any chance it’s possible to remove the optical drive and replace with an SSD?

The hardware maintenance manual posted above should have most of the information you need about the hardware.

What won’t be in there is the basic typical HDD caddy that can be used in just about any laptop optical drive slot. My only concern there would be interface speed. Put the SSD internally and the mass/slow storage in the CD-to-HDD caddy.

The first link is fine. It appears that the second one is correct but HP is having site problems.

Here’s another shot at that maintenance manual.

is this Superfish compatible?

My husband bought a HP Pavilion G7 from Woot a year or two ago. Very similar stats to this one (previous version, maybe?). It’s been nothing but trouble–chronic video card/playback issues, recently doing lots of thermal shutdowns. I’m sure some of that is due to overuse, but still very disappointing.

Does the memory actually top out at 8gb, or is that just the published-limit?

Can I bump this up to 16gb without issue?
