CPU Benchmarks

I can’t seem to find the model number? Please help

A batch of factory reconditioned computers such as this are often a mix of model numbers. They are brought up to the states specs as a minimum.

Touchscreen?

HD+ BrightView LED-backlit. No touchscreen on this one. We’d list that if it were equipped.

Not a good deal. I have a 2 year old HP A6 based laptop, which is a higher end CPU than the A4 in this and that one I’d barely consider new at this price. The only thing this has going for it is graphics performance. A cheap Core i3 system will outperform it in every other way and is even decent for light gaming. Unless gaming is a priority you’ll never know the difference.

If this was a lot lower, say around $250, it would be worth considering for the whole package but at $379 for a refurb it just doesn’t excite.

I got one of these about a month ago and I Love it and am completely satisfied. While the CPU/APU isn’t the fastest, it has a much higher throughput than the 1.8x4 implies. The graphics are very good and it will play most games with ease, excepting humongous power hogs like Far Cry. From experience I can tell you that most refurbished items have had a great deal of attention paid to them , and are usually better than the brand new ones that just roll off the assembly line, get boxed, ans shipped out with no testing other than a go/ no go test.

The price is about $376.00 with tax and shipping, but the same PC New will cost you about $700.00!

A great deal that shouldn’t be overlooked in my opinion.

Peace.

Enough with the AMD APU laptops - please dump them somewhere else!

Is it possible to expand the memory (RAM) on these or are the pretty much maxed out?

I like the AMD HP laptops - both my kids have been running and beating them up without issues - A8 and A10 though. They do tend to run hot, so the fans can get loud. But this is just maybe… going market rate on these AMD A4s? Not a great deal. I’d want an A8 at this price point, and I would not have to search ages to find it. They offer better computing power in these AMD HPs all the time right here at woot with a 15in screen for a lower price. You’re paying for a larger screen with less speed in this case. So a person’s got to consider what their priorities are - the 17in screen or better RAM and processor.

Oh, I forgot to mention that Windows 8 is written for the Microsoft tablet PC’s. It is really unmanageable on a Laptop, so I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit. Now it runs very smooth. This Laptop runs very cool, and I never hear the fan. It also runs on average about 6 hours before needing to be recharged.
