HP Pavilion Quad-Core Desktop

Will this work on a Mac?

I know right! I was holding off until it came with the mat. I never lost hope Woot!!

Motherboard specs here. This model has an Alvorix - I’m not a fan.

Keep in mind before buying: You can usually get a p67 unit on the HP site for $299, full one year warranty, not 90-day refurbished. The specs may be better than a custom-built (new) one, though, depending.

Would LOVE IT if someone emailed me when the roomba pops up  our pit bull and puggie shed during the winter and I have all wood flooring! bsukkert@gmail.com

250 Wattsseems alittle weak…Can it be upgraded or is that what you’re stuck with?

do these computers, whether its a desktop or a laptop, ever come with programs such as MS Office and such?

Commented with the motherboard specs, which includes processor upgrade info.

Depends on the unit - but all new HP desktops come with at least Office 2010 Starter, which is a reduced-functionality copy of Word and Excel, with some advertising in the corner.

We be gettin both!

I second that Amen. I used to own a white-box computer shop and people still constantly ask for help building systems or picking out hardware.

I’ve bought my last two systems as refurbs from Woot and been very happy not to deal with the hassle. The latest is an HP Pavilion Elite Desktop with AMD Phenom II 2.7Ghz Six Core, 8GB Ram and 1TB Hard Drive that I use for web design. Love it so far.

Its pretty standard when buying pre-built computers to have low power crappy power supplies. The BIOS probably has no features and they assume you won’t be upgrading anything

Doesn’t ship to canada… Or i would have bought it :frowning:

Wootalyzer. C’mon, you have to have heard of it by now. Try it. The program is pretty basic, but has audio alerts, pop-ups, etc.

Dell has a comparable deal going right now with their base desktop at $299 as well (smaller HD, but same proc, memory and integrated graphics). Like above poster mentioned of HP and their p67’s, the Dell’s are new with the 1yr warranty.

Might be better off taking your time checking between those sites for something new and under a full year warranty especially if you’re thinking of getting it as a gift.

Still, this is a good deal. Great set of specs for a beginner system for a simple home user. As a gamer and tech, I build my own so this wouldn’t quite cut it. But I also generally wouldn’t spend less than $1k on a system when all was said and done.

More than a little weak! HP has a habit of underpowering their boxes. By the time you change out the PS, add memory and add a decent HDMI video card you might just as well build your own!

Thanks for lookin out.

not everyone is a gamer. so tired of gamers - “i build my computers,” “can’t run any games on this”

so effing what!?! 305 bucks for a computer is a pretty damned good deal! if someone wants something to load pictures off their point and shoot, surf the net or just watch internet porn, this will do nicely.

suk62- you can also go to selloutwoot.com (dealswoot) and do a search for the roomba there

for the record, i typed pooorn (minus 2 “o’s”) and it switched it with food network
