can you upgrade RAM?

Description says it has 8gb DDR3, expandable to 32gb. I’d say you’re good to go.

You bet. per the specs:

Memory: 8GB DDR3 (PC3-12800)
Max Memory: 32GB

Yes…

“8GB DDR3 memory – For multitasking power, expandable to 32GB”

If you’re asking if the RAM can be upgraded with your order, the answer is no.

If you’re asking whether it’s possible to upgrade the RAM yourself, the answer is yes.

According to the Specs, it comes with 8GB, but it will handle up to 32GB:
Memory: 8GB DDR3 (PC3-12800)
Max Memory: 32GB
Memory Slots: 4

I cannot find any info on how they put the 8GB in there. All on one card or 4 2GB cards?
Checked the HP site:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03933829&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en#N57
but no specifics

Anyone know how is this system for HTPC for mainly watching kids videos, music, pictures and some 720P movies.

Contemplating this, but I don’t see any HDMI out port in the specs. Is it easy to add HDMI out functionality?

It has 4 memory slots,so can use one 8gb, 4 2gb,or 2 4gb.The 4 slots let you add up to 32gb.If your just using the computer for every day stuff,8gb will work just find.

I would be fine for that.

You can add a video card with hdmi to it just fine. It can support any stand card, though you should check the power requirements of the video card, since the power supply on the computer tops out at 300w.

Is it possible to update the graphics card? What kind of PCI slot is in this?

DELETE - Wrong thread;

I’m red-faced

Expansion Slots & Bays:
(3) PCI Express x1 slots (available)
(1) PCI Express x16 slot (available)
(1) Minicard (occupied)
(1) 5.25" Drive Bay (occupied)
(1) 3.5" Drive Bay (occupied)

too bad they messed it up with Windows 8. I’m needing a new computer, but I’m wanting Windows 7. I’ve got 8 on a laptop and I hate it.

That would be a reason that I would get it for. Just not sure how good of a buy it would be at $410 after shipping and tax.

Check crucial.com they’ll usually tell you about RAM upgrades.

Get a $5 start menu addon and you’ll be happy. I never see the Win 8 tile UI. I use Start8 works well and you get all the advantages of Windows 8 (10 second cold startup, etc) without ever having to see metro.

This is very similar to my primary machine I use daily (and right now!) that I bought here refurb years ago. I think the main difference is I only got a 1TB HD but my super drive is also blu-ray.

I heartily recommend them. In fact, if this one had Windows 7 on it instead of 8 I’d be seriously tempted to try another. The AMD quad core chip is solid, even when I’m doing very heavy data analysis. I upgraded the ram to 12 gigs when I first got it. I’m about to start a project to put a new power supply and video card into it, because I intend to continue using it for a long time.
