Solid reviews (4.1 out of 5.0) over at bestbuy.com

In for one because my teen daughters need a new laptop. Hope it’s decent enough for what they need.

Too many poor comments on Amazon. I’ll pass…

Over 1200 good reviews on Best Buy. It’s well rated. And that’s people who paid a lot more than this. At this price, you have nothing to lose. Buying one now.

This is actually a great review that puts everything in perspective. http://liliputing.com/2014/08/hp-pavilion-x360-convertible-notebook-review.html.

It’s a neat design with a lot of potential that falls short in a couple key areas. 1)Battery life is only 4 hours, which is fine for a conventional laptop (as far as I’m concerned), but for a unit such as this that is small, light and portable- it’s not a good design. My chromebook goes for 12 hours. 2)viewing angles have something to be desired (see review)

My best suggestion is you buy this would be to get a cheap Kingston SSD 240gb for $85 and switch out the HD

Here’s how to disassemble. http://www.myfixguide.com/manual/hp-pavilion-x360-disassembly/

Thanks gak! You answered my question (disassembly) and linked to the solution (SSD) before I could even ask for help!

Does the mic input support stereo or mono only?

4 hours on battery is horrendous these days, but does anyone have an educated opinion (guess?) as to how much battery use is extended by replacing the disk with SSD? Certainly the unit would be lighter.

I said I’d never buy a crappy HP again. But I think I would like this better than my POS Asus t100. Now you want to talk about a slow computer.

The power savings is not that much. Maybe in this laptop another 10-15 minutes max. An SSD in this laptop won’t make the battery last much longer, but it will make this a much more usable laptop as far as performance goes.

this will help explain it:

Bought this and returned it to best buy.didn’t have time to gauge battery life but the fan sounds like nails on chalkboard and is louder than my first HP laptop from 2007. Other than that it performed as one would expect for a midrange unit with a spinning drive. Nice response from touch screen and priced below yoga 2 and Asus flip
