It’s really a ploy by the us government in kahootz with the Chinese government. By banning the phones that makes them more desireable by certain types. And it’s those types the goves want to keep track of. Perhaps this being wear os and not as capable makes it less banworthy? Now, where is that foil hat…
I have Huawei Band 2 and when I went to sync it with my Huawei phone, the TOS said outright that it shares the info gathered. Of course you can opt out by mailing them a request in writing. Heck, your personal info is sold numerous times over by the time the letter makes it to them.
So I opted to not complete the setup and the Band 2 “fitness tracker” went back in it’s box.
Acutely, it’s because the company has ties to the Chinese intelligence and we know that the Chinese intel spooks don’t share info with our NSA spooks. Sounds kind of spooky to me. Oh, and tin foil doesn’t work any longer.
ZTE is also on the list. First, you couldn’t take them into classified spaces. Then, they have decided to ban them from military stores on bases. Before long, military personnel won’t be allowed to own them. So, whens the last time you heard any dirt on googles ability to track you, even with tracking turned off on phones and watches? wonder why they don’t outright ban fitbits?. Google shares info, ZTE and Huawei do not. Come to your own conclusion. Having worked in areas that you couldn’t wear watches, take in phones or even your own ink pens, I can understand the govts distaste for a brand that doesn’t play well.
