Do not even think about trying to root these and install a newer or different ROM. There is a switch to unlock deep in Settings, but not sure why. This model is pretty much stuck at Huawei’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Not bad for the price, however. Plus, you do have the option to add storage with the Micro USB. High speed is recommended and no more than 128GB, although some report 200GB works. It is a cute and speedy little tablet.

Does this have Play Store installed or can it be added?

Yes, it does include Play. It is standard part of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Lol, maybe the US doesnt have their tracking software installed in Huawei phones, thats why they dont want you to use them? Either way Huawei makes better products than any US phone maker.

True. We have a Honor 8 (still the best) and a Honor 7X phone. Incredible! Even more incredible is the new Huawei Matebook X Pro 13.9" with no bevel, 4 mikes, 4 speakers, great battery, etc. Beats stuff like Dell’s XPS 13 and LG Gram 14 hands down.

Thats because the Chinese won’t share with our intel people. These phones collect no more data then our current iphones or samsungs. Some of it flows to some sleepy eyed NSA spook at Ft. Meade MD while the same data and then some, ends up across the pond. So, when buying this brand, which has ties to the Chinese intel community, which one do you want analyzing your data, the MSS or the NSA? Or do you even care?

Probably the BG2-W09, ~2345 in passmark and ~22k in antutu I guess not bad for the price, bit quicker than the fire HD7 it seems. 1gb ram can be limiting but probably not gaming with this one.

Just wondering if this would be a decent dedicated display for drone flights?
I’m currently using a Samsung Galaxy S4 without any issues other than screen brightness.

Do they make real sturdy cases and screen protectors for this model? Thinking of getting this for my 6 year old.

a quick look at the mothership looks like yes, they do.

Will it upgrade to Android 7?

Of course, you have to assume that you are interesting enough to track in the first place. For most people, that’s a pretty big assumption!

Any conspiracy theorist worth his salt knows that the first thing to do after the downfall of our technical society is to put your cellphone under your tinfoil hat.

Lol

Online chat says: After reviewing this, allow me to inform you that the latest updates are for security patches and there is no information about an update to get Android 7.

Appears that it can be rooted:

Hi blueswerks! It’s like you could read my mind…of COURSE at this price, I thought this would be a perfect tablet to practice my rooting skills on, so I thank you for your message. But I’m a bit confused…are these not at all rootable?
Thanks!

Unless it is way different from my former Huawei Mediapad T3 8 and Huawei Mediapad T3 10.0, they have it locked in such a manner that it will error out on the last step. That was my experience anyway. I have rooted many many phones and tablets, but my Huawei Mediapad T3 8 and Huawei Mediapad T3 10.0 were a different beast. The web may say one thing and I wish that is was true, but it was not in my experience, unfortunately. It may have been related to a security update that was pushed as soon as they had an active Internet connection. I ended up selling them.
