What is a simulated diamond made of? Plastic?

Simulated diamonds can be made of crystals, cubic zirconia, moissanite, white zircon, white sapphires or even quartz. They are coined “simulated” because they are grown in laboratories to replicate the appearance of diamonds at a fraction of the cost instead of found in nature.
