1. Stay Logged In - When the current item reaches 5%, log out of woot and log back in to keep your session fresh 2. Keep your cart clean - Clear out any sold out items from your cart 3. Refresh the Community Page - New items show up faster on the community page than they do on the main page. When an item is sold out, the forums are the place to be. 4. Click the image - Make sure you are clicking on the image of the crap, and not the text. This will get you directly to the Add to Cart page, and save you some more time GOOD LUCK!
Trust me your not missing anything. There is not $5 worth of crap in these things let alone the $10 spent. They are truly crappy anymore. You get what they say it is not what you pay for.
Don’t waste your time. Woot is dated and has lost it’s luster.
Not sure what the old method was. but for me frustration comes from the inherent bias for those with speedy connections and folks who use things like adblock [page loads faster if it does not have to wait for the slow loading ads].

This would be significantly better if it was handled more like a raffle. For example here is one way it could work:
Each BOC is a raffle. You have 5 minutes to put into your ticket. A ticket is then randomly drawn and your credit card is charged for the BOC.
For every $5 you spend on Woot products, you get a raffle ticket. This removes bots and also removes the need to F5 every few seconds. Now this gets into lettery territory really quick so they can also give a free raffle ticket every month or so to avoid that issue.
Win for Woot [they get more money] and win for customers who are loyal to Woot.
You aren’t wrong. I got a BoC about a month ago and was really bummed with what I got. It was essentially poop playdough, loads of assorted, almost working pens with random business names on them, and some plastic trash. Seriously, I was shipped actual trash that came from other packaging.
This wasn’t my first BOC so my expectations weren’t very high… but I was really surprised to not even get $5-$10 worth of stuff.
That being said, I still bought one this time around. I’m addicted to the hunt for the elusive BoC and part of me still holds out a little hope that Woot just had a bad few months. I’m preparing myself for disappointment this time.
As you mention speedy connections: I’ve actually been sitting here the past few hours analyzing my internet speed (which is where it should be), also trying to understand exactly what ‘latency’ is & just looking for ways I might improve my overall internet speed–not just for this, of course, but general frustration caused by slower connections some days.
Not a bad idea you have there–it’s always great to see suggestions/solutions, positive offerings, etc., though…again, not just here, but in general. One of my mottos has always been that our world is desperately in need positive energy & solutions…
I bought one on my phone with a 3G connection so I am not sure I agree with the Bias thing with connection speed. I always have adblock running but anyone can run that, though not sure it would help. When you have 1,000 people or more trying to buy 10 items, a lot of it is going to be luck. I have sat at work (Which has a huge pipe coming in) and not scored after numerous tries, then scored from home on a much slower connection. I really think it is 90% luck and 10% perseverance. I have missed more craps than Elvis in his final years.
There have been several methods, with Crapword puzzle’s, the infamous Crapbeard fiasco and the random contests on here and FB where you type something in and a winner is selected.
Any change will bring out the “Woot it isn’t would it used to be.” crowd who pretends to rage quit.
