Now you are being just silly, paying or not I go about in space regularly. I will admit to some clutter but I have never aquired the necessary magic with physics to go about through solid matter. Sheesh

What kind of space? Like thriving Star Trek TNG kind of space, or The Expanse kind of space?

Space would be my last great adventure!
Damn right I’d go!
yeah, I’m old. I’m not dead yet. Besides, it was only a flesh wound.
You know, like “In Search of the Holy Grail” (Monte Python)
I’ll bring some coconut shells too.

Nope. The movie “Gravity” made me nervous and my palms all sweaty. :grimacing:

This even gives me anxiety:

StarTrek TOS and TNG portrayed a utopian society magically post a period of near-extinction without showing how they got there. It was “soft” science fiction focused more on relationships and fantasy versions of science.

The Expanse is an extension of today’s chaos into the solar system; later beyond. They strove to make it much more realistic. It is classified as “hard” science fiction with a LOT of attention to physics. For accurate depiction of astronomy and propulsion and even human power struggles, The Expanse tried a lot harder to keep it real.

The latest StarTrek: Strange New Worlds is intentionally much closer to the original in tone and worth supporting / watching.

Hopefully many of us may have the chance to fly into near space i.e. 30 to 50 miles high - if we can stay alive for maybe the next 30 years (save up if you want to). For comparison, commercial aviation first became affordable in the 1950’s i.e. 70 years ago and became fairly common within 30 years. Commerical airlines typically fly up to 7 miles high.

Samantha “Sam” Carter

Jonathan J. “Jack” O’Neill
, or
Teal’c of Chulak
