What is the capacity? Two quarts?
GREAT product. I’ve had one for over a year and use it every day.
YouTube has a ton of recipes.
(Pressure Luck is a good one.)
Thanks! Looking forward to six quarts of porridge. Woohoo!
I wanted a digital pressure cooker for a long time and finally bought an Instant Pot on sale at Walmart over a year ago. I came to the conclusion from all the reviews that this is the only one to get, and now I know why. This is a well made appliance (from Canada) that works flawlessly and provides many uses in addition to pressure cooking. The Cuisinart received great reviews as well, however it’s strictly a pressure cooker. I now consider the Instant Pot as being in the same category as a microwave, that is, an appliance I won’t ever want to be without. I use it a few times per week to quickly and easily make meals that took too much time and effort to make before, like pot roast and potatoes for example. I invest 15 minutes of actual prep but then just set the time and watch tv until the meal’s done. And lastly, everything’s tender and tastes like it cooked all day … i.e. delicious. If you ever thought about a digital pressure cooker, slow cooker, etc. this is absolutely the one you should try!
I’ve owned this model for 2+ years now and I love it. I mostly cook beans and chicken in it and it works flawlessly.
great reviews@Walmart where they ran out of them @$104.26
great price! I use my Instant Pot a few times a week. Everything I’ve made has been successful except one – the first time I made a rice dish I didn’t measure correctly and well, it wasn’t good
You can cook from frozen without adjusting the times because the timer starts after the pot reaches pressure – so just throw those frozen chicken parts in and don’t worry about it! Love my IP!
Be sure to join the Instant Pot Community of Facebook for tips and recipes. These folks have ideas for these things I would never have considered. Lasagna. Yogurt. Cakes. Diets. Crafts. Lots of advice on accessories that make this even better, too.
Why is this the old discontinued model v2 that sells for $65 aready on Amazon with full return policy?
[MOD: Those are used. New are much higher.]
Will this pot make a whole bag (16-20 ounce) of beans at one time? I have a normal pressure cooker, and usually just dump the bag of beans, spices and water into the cooker. I am wondering about the capacity of this one.
The Instant Pot pressure cooker.
No it’s not much of a looker.
So cook up some stew,
Ready in a minute or few.
And while it cooks go play snooker.
I usually dump in a one pound bag of beans and have plenty of room, so should be no problem, just don’t overfill and be sure to read instructions/online tip and use manual pressure release when appropriate. BTW the Instant Pot makes PERFECT beans, even rock-hard chickpeas, without any soaking. I’ve really been able to up my hummus game with mine.
Can’t say enough good things about my InstantPot. It’s amazing in that you can brown things before adding liquid/sealing the thing up. So, if you have a recipe that calls for “brown X before putting it in the crock pot,” you can do the browning in the IP and then get the thing cooked in minutes, not hours. Love mine. Also makes perfect beans, rice, etc. You can also throw in stuff straight from the freezer and make it happen as dinner in record time. Get this.
yes-ish. It cannot do pressure canning, but can be used as an open canner (boiling water)
One of my friends uses it to can, but only for certain items, like veggies that don’t require the very high pressure. when they can meats, they still use their big pressure canner. You’ll have to check on the site to see what’s possible.
Careful of the glowing reviews here and other places. This is not all that. Yes, it is a good pressure cooker. But it’s not perfect. It often has issues sealing on certain dishes making it take forever to cook. Plus the sealing ring can get stained and start to smell and affect your food. If you just NEED a pressure cooker though, I do recommend this one. As far as pressure cookers go, this one is probably the easiest to use. If your a seasoned cook, others may do you better though. If you don’t need one, don’t bother. Be sure to do research on “Instant Pot Problems” before you buy.
