it was never the commercials that killed mtv (youtube, twitch, amazon, etc all have equally if not more annoying commercials and you can’t change channels to escape them) but the lack of music based content. of course, that’s also just a personal opinion since mtv is still a giant corporation making tons of money with millions of viewers so…it ain’t dead yet 
(just a shell of what it once was…deep nostalgia sigh)
