Does “unlocked” allow me to drag-and-drop files to this device from a Windows PC, just like a USB Flashdrive? Or do you still need to use iTunes to interface?

Unlocking refers to the network carriers you can use it with.

Yes. Since this is CDMA and GSM it works with AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint.

I got burned trying to buy my mother an upgrade to her crappy boost mobile Android phone. Even though this is older it certainly is better. Will this work with boost mobile, anyone? Thanks a bunch!
