Love our Roombas.
ugh!! i was waiting all day for this
Loved mine. It started spinning in circles after 4 years. It’s great on hardwood floors with several pets.
We’ve had our Roomba for years - and we love it. We’ve thought of getting a 2nd one - you know, to socialize with the first one and double team the lint.
*Note: Product not intended to vacuum whole pets.
that was fast.
Wow, a used roomba.
I bought this same model (also a refurb) in a recent Woot-Off. It’s a fine product if you’re the right type of housekeeper; it does what it’s supposed to do, seems well-made, and is a good value at this price. But on the off chance that you’re as lazy a cleaner as I am, here’s why I’m putting mine on eBay:
-
Roombas require a fair amount of prep. The first time I used the thing, I picked up the cat and dog toys but left other stuff, e.g. their beds and dishes, on the floor. That was a bad idea. So the next time I spent a good 10 or 15 minutes picking up everything but the furniture. Then I “pre-swept” to make sure there weren’t any clumps of leaves (we have a lot of old-growth trees in our yard, and a dog who brings them in in his long coat) that might clog the Roomba’s filters and reduce its effective vacuuming time.
-
In order to work well over time, Roombas should be carefully cleaned after each use. That adds another 10 or 15 minutes to the process, or more if your floors are especially dirty. The cleaning isn’t difficult, but it is fiddly, and it’s hell on my allergies.
After a few sessions of pre-cleaning for the Roomba, following it around to make sure I didn’t forget to pick any stray items up off the floor, then cleaning it and spending the next two hours recovering from the resulting allergy attack, I found that every time I had the urge to run the Roomba, I decided it was easier to just sweep with a broom and then use my Dyson to vacuum. The Roomba has just been sitting there taking up an outlet in my living room, and I’ll be happier when it goes to a more suitable home.
What’s hot DJ ROOMBAAAA!
