Around here the top grade Parmigiano Reggiano is about $21/lb in grocery stores. That’s for a typical size piece of around 1/2 lb. Your prices may vary. Probably if you live in Brooklyn next to an Italian food store, it’s cheaper. Maybe it’s more expensive in Texas - doesn’t go well with steak. So a 3 lb piece for $50 ($42 + $5 shipping + $3 tax) is $16.67/lb. A decent deal for a big chunk of cheese, if you needed it anyway.
